No. 900,901'. specification of .Application led March 6i',
Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 13, y1908. isos.. sei-nino. 419,430.. i
To all-whom 'it may concern: i v
Be it known that `I, FRANK WEI-SENBERG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident in the countyof Kings `and State of New York, have invented a new and useful form of Receptacle, o f which the following isa specification.l L
My l'nvention relates particularly to the construction of a receptacle from which a upon the' opening of the receptacle by the person for whom thefmilk or cream'is ,intended.. Such a, device is of es, ecial value where full bottles are'v delivere at a time when there is no one. to receive them, in
the bottles outside of the house door with the conserpent danger of lossthrough theft, or throng the dishonesty yof the delivery agent who may fail todeliver Ibottles when itis his duty so to do. By the use of my deempty condition of the receptacle or rece tac es and after insertion,y which mayllie moved by' anyunauthorized person.
I do not wish to be understood as limiting I myself to the particular construction of my invention shown in the drawings herewith and hereafter described, since such a concations as desired, without deplarting from` the spirit of myinvention whic consists in l the construction, arrangement, and combiin the sco e'of the claims hereto a pended. t
4.Like .c aracters of reference denote like; parts in all the iiguresof the .drawings y Figure 1 represents a view in side elevation lpositionfor use; Fig. 2 l represents a sectiona view in front elevation of my receptacle; Fig. 3 represents a detail.l
bersof my' receptacle; Fig. 4 re resents a ders. l The' construction of my invention is as f ollows: f
ber a, preferably cylindrical in form, o n at bothtop and bottom, and of a size su cient to permit ofthe insertion therein of the. botadapted to be-inserted in'and close member a. The top member is provided with a handle 2, andV bottom member a is provided with a don the outside thereof at points X and is adapted'to be swung up over' the top member when the latter is in place, the top of the hanger member 1 then being over and adjacent to the handle 2. The hanger member 1 and handle 2 are provided with horizontal slots 3 and 4 respectively, which register when the arts are assembled as described.
An ang e bracket member 5, adapted to be attached to the wall or door casing, is provided'at its lower end with upwardly extend' ing'lip 7, and atv its upper end with a second lip 8. To the outside of bottom member ais secured a holder member 6 adapted for the insertionof lip 7; lip 8 is adapted to be inserted in the registered slots 3 and 4 and is provided with anzaperture 9 in the portion projecting above4 such slots. A lock 10- of desired form may be inserted in aperture- 9, thus securing the assembled receptacle from being removed" from the bracket 5 without first removing the lock 10.
Inside the top member b, adjacent the bot# tom thereof are secured spring retaining members 11, which in the form shown project u wardly and inwardly to forni an openlng o the desired shape smaller in size than the interior of the receptacle or of the article membersmay be fastened to t e inside ofthe member b in any desired manner, such as bebetween the inner wall of the member and a collarmember secured thereto.
The bottom member a isl made of such a length that the article to be inserted in the receptacle A Will not protrude from the bottom thereof when secured in position.
Vto so thatl the aperture 3 vthereinre ters with the aperture 4 inthe handle voft e tOp member b; the assembledreceptacle is then engaged .with vthe bracket' `5 b .simultanetle or other peackag'e'` in connection with used; top member bier hanger member 1 which is plvotally fastened The operation of my invention is as fol-- tovbe inserted therein.l The s ring-retaining ing soldered directly thereto, or by being held of the body member-being siyung up over the 1 1o Iouvsly inserting 4 the li17 from y .widthslinsertion of a bottle B` The delivery agent inserts a bottle in the receptacle by pressing it u therein from the bottom until the lip 12 of t e bottle neck passes beyond the retaining members 11.; t e bottle can not then be Withdrawn from below since it cannot be grasped because of the inclosing receptacle member A.; hence the bottle Will remain in the receptacle until the lock is removed, the lips Tand 8 disengaged and the top an'd bottom members a and b separated., whereupon the bottle may be easily disengaged from the retaining members.
It Will thus be seen that my device is a protection against theft as has been stated, simple in design and construction, durable, may be operated With ease, and manufactured at a low cost. Protection is also furnished against dirt, moisture, and heat or cold. The construction may be such that a plurality of bottles can be inserted in one receptacle, and rece tacles may be adapted for use l With bottles o various sizes. The retaining member may be of any suitable design and secured in position in any desired manner, While the locking means at the top of the receptacle may be a combination or any other Well known form of lock. It Will also be apparent'that the form of my device may be adapted for use with any form of bottle, can, or other package, it not being essential that there be a projection such as a bottle lip 'Which is forced through the retaining members, since a packave with a plain surface may be inserted andzheld between said members, the receptacle being made of suficient length to revent interference with the inserted pac rage.
IrIavmO thus fully described mylinvention, what I clnaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: y
