WATER-COOLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 6, 1908.
Application filed June 17, 1905. serial No. 265,669.
which the ice is kept separated from the water that is to be co'oled,'in order H "by to permit the use of pond-water 1C8 orother ice that may be deemed unsuited for melting.
with drinking water.
The invention consists of the Construction herein described and claimed.
Referring to the drawing, Figure 1 is a vertical section of the water cooler embodying the improvement. Fig. 2 is a top end wview of the ice receptacle.
The walls, (not the water cooler may be madedouble with a suitable. packing or filling, 6, in the usual or any well known manner. The water chamber, 0, has a sheet metal bottom, d, provided on its upper surface with a circular bearing, 0, depressed below the said surface.
The ice rccc 'itacle, F, has a cylindric form and the bottom or lower end, 9, fits snugly into the said circular depression, 6, on the bottom of the water chamber and is thereby retained or held stationary from lateral movement; the upper end of the ice receptacle, If, is provided with a collar or v band, 12 which surrounds its walls and s1 rcngthcns its top edge and prevents same 'l'rom being battered when putting lumps of icc in the receptacle. This collar is made .ot two semi-circular bars, l1, each having lateral ends or arms, 1', the bars are brought together with the lateral endsof one in contact with the lateral ends of the other and these ends are then secured together by rivets, The collar is secured to the receptaclc by rivets, la. The double lateral ends, z', of the collar have a quarter twist and project radially from the ice receptacle.
The water clnnnbcr, 0, near the top has its wall provided with two lateral lugs, Z, these project inward and are positioned diametrically opposite each other. When the ice receptacle, F, is placed in. position its entire lower end will be seated in the circular depression, 6, the lateral ends, .2, of the collar will be coincident with the under surface of the lateral lugs, Z, on the water chamber, and the entire ice receptacle may be turned without its lower end shifting from the circular depression consequently a slight twist or turn of the receptacle, F, will bind the lateral arms, '2', under the lugs, l, and this means will hold the receptacle down and keep its lower end seated in said de pression, c.
The receptacle will contain the ice, and the space or chamber around the outside of the receptacle will contain the drinking Water. The receptacle may be readily disconnected, removed and cleaned, and then replaced.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
A water cooler comprising an outer shell an ice receptacle and an intermediate water receptacle with a filling between said shell and water receptacle a draw-oi? faucet extending through the outer shell and filling, and communicating with the water receptacle, the inner wall of said intermediate water receptacle being provided with inardly-projecting rigid lugs while the ice receptacle is provided at its upper end with semi-circular bars which are rigidly secured to its upper edge and which extend around the same and the ends of one bar being secured to the ends of the other bar and the secured 7 ends projecting laterally from -diametrically opposite sides of the ice receptacle and extending beneath the rigid lugs on the intermediate receptacle whereby to hold the ice receptacle down in the intermediate receptacle.
Tn testimony whereof I aliix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
