i v My invention 1s more especlally adapted for securing wooden seat pieces tothe frame of a chair bottom, although it may be used for other purposes, and consists of a plate of thinmetal bent soasto form an offset and provided: with one or morepoints at its front or retaining end, and having a holding nibat its rear end with aslot in its body part for the reception of a screw, rivet, or nail for attaching it to the seatpiece, the object being to make a simpleqportable clip that may be easily applied. This I attain by the construction shown in 1 the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows in plan perspectiveone of the seat pieces with four of the clips attached. Fig. 2'is a vertical section showing a part of the frame of a'chair bottom, a part of the seat-piece, with one of my clips as it appears in use. i
The clip I) should be made of a firm metal like iron or steel, although other metals may be used. The front or service end ha'sone or more sharp points D for penetrating the wood of the chair bottom frame. The offset D has a double purpose, that is, it is so made for the particular use for wluch 1t 1s.

piece B lies on the top of the chair bottom frame the points of'the' clips ma come abreast of the inside edge of the said frame as shown in Fig. 2 and driven into it. The shoulder formed by the offset D also serves as ahammer-seat for receiving the blongof the driving hammer.
The body of the clip has a slot 11* for-the purpose of receiving the screw S which engages with an eyelet piece S whi 1* has an internal screw. thread. The screw essential, as a rivet or nail may be used. T he nib D at the rear end serves as a re tainer to be driven into the seat nece after the sharp front end has been (lIlWf-fl into the frame of the chair bottom. s
a An adjustable clip for securing seat-pieces to the bottom frames of chairs, crnsisting of a plate of metal bent to form at offset and having its holding end pointed whereby it may admit of being driven into the bottomframeand having a hammer sew: for receiving the blow of the driving hammer, the body part having a slot for the holding screw and having a-holding nib at its rear end, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. d
