To all whom 'it may concern.' p A Be it known that I, THOMAS E. GAIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lombard, in the county of `Cecil and State of Maryland,` have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Combination Burglariilarm and VVindow-Sash, of which the following is a specification.

This invention isa combined window stop or fastener and burglaralarm, the invention being to VVprovide a cheap simple and efficient device which can be attached to the window sash and -frame and by means of which the windowcan be securely locked in a closed or intermediate position and another object of'n the invention is to provide in `connection with the locking mechanisiman alarm. which will sound when the window is either raised or lowered, thereby providing an efficient form of burglar alarm. Gr indicates a bell having a handle or lever H, projecting therefrom, and by means of which the said bell is sounded and for the purpose of operating this handle or lever when the window is raised or lowered, I employ a bail I, essentially rectangular in shape, the bottom member of which is adapted to t beneath the handle or lever I-I and at its upper end this bail is constructed with an eye I, which iits over a crank pin K, carried by the pinion D, so that a new movement of the window either up or down, will cause the pinion to rotate and this rotation `ol" the pinion will work the bail up and down and cause it to pull upon the handle or lever I-I, and in order to hold this bail in this position at all times, `I employ a guide eye L, which is secured to the window frame and through which the free end of the bail works las shown clearly in Fig. 4.

The pawl E can be thrown oii1 whenever it i's desired to lower the window and the bail is so constructed and arranged that if the day, so as to. avoid sounding the alarm, it can be quickly and easily accomplished by simply removing the eye from the crank pin of the pinion.

It will thus be seen that I provide an eX- ceedingly cheap, simple and efficient form of combination window lock Vor fastener and burglar alarm.
