[application fusa April 1'1, 1907.' seriiuo. 361,521. l .1
To all whom fit may concern:
Be it known. that we, GEORGE W.y BIRD, and
HoYT AKiNs, citizens of the United States,
.residing at'Statesboro, inthe county of Bnl- 5 loch, Stateof Georgia, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Force-Feed \`Lubricato rs; andwe doI hereby declare the.
following .to be a full, clea'r, and exact de-r scription of the inventioingsuch as will -en-A able others skilled in the. art-.to which it ap;-
pertainS toinake and use .the-samejr f This invention has relation to that kindof lubricators or oilers that comprise a cup: that -isadaptedto be attached to, thecap or` covering of the journal-bearing through theme-` clium ot'a stern st :rew'ed therein, through which stem the lubricant is f ed by'force to the journal ors'pin'dle and its bearing as requirech It is the object of' the inventionto provide iinprovements in the class..v of devices nienvtione'd that will-simplify their construction,
reduce the cost of their manufacture', and
enhance their efliciency'fin certain connections and render theniready of use and' certain in their'operation.
The nature of the invention is-fully and. clearly ascertained'. from the device portrayed inthe annexed:` drawing, forming a l .part ot'V this specificatiomfin view of which itY will f irst bedescribed with respect toits con.- struction and modeof operation, and thenbe pointed out in the subjoined claims.
j Of the said vdrawings-- Figure 1' is a side. elevation. Fig. 2 is-acentral vertical section.
Similar numerals of reference designate similar pa'rts or features, as the case'niay be, Wherever they occur. a
In the drawin s v 1 designates the` cup 40 which may beo tlie..fo1in shown or any other suited to its purpose.
2l designates the top or cover of the 'cup which isv provided-With a pendent .annular screw-threadedilange 3 that is ada jecting rim 4 of the cover'rests upon the' upper edge of theformer; l .l f
5 designates the '.h'ollowsteinfextending -down from the center of the base `of the cup,
50 and Whichis externally screw-threaded, Vto
adapt it to 'be turned intov corresponding screw-threaded holes forniedin thecaps or boxes of spindle and Journal. bearings, so as ted `to bey screwed. in-"the top of the cup unti the pro- .of the cup and the spindle'.1p

When itis desired to till the cup the-thiinih'flo 'oil out of the cup.l After filling the -the parts mentioned as vremoved will be jre laced.v
y' our improvements it will be seen that-a very simple, efficient and handily operated force feed lubricating cup is provided.
- What is olaimed is- Thecombination with lan oil cup, of a per-y fol-ated c apsecured thereto, said cup having a'holloW exteriorly threaded stem, an oper- {ating stem extendingthrough said cap perforation and provided below with a cylindrical plunger held withinsaid hollow stem and extending to the bottom thereof, a nut secured to the upper'end of said operating stem, a rubber sleeve surrounding said operating stem above said ca and forming a stop to said stem, and a eo' spring surrounding saidfstem within said cap, all arrangedvsubstantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof, we aHix our signatures, 1n presence of two Witnesses.
