PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES GOBLE, OF BEAVERDAM, OHIO.
LIF'IING- JACK.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented sept. 1, 190s.
Application filed January 13, 1908. Serial No. 410,629.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES GOBLE, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Beaverdam, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lifting-Jacks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to lifting jacks, and is more particularly adapted to use as a wagon jack and has for its object to provide a jack of this character which will be simple in construction, and effective for the purpose intended.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and it will beunderstood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the present jack, showing the parts in a lowered position, Fig. 2 is a similar view the parts being in a raised position, Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view, Fig. 4 is an end elevational view.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, there is shown a lifting jack 5 comprising a supporting base plate 6. The base plate 6 is provided with a vertically disposed standard 7, and this standard is provided with an outwardly directed boss 8. The boss 8 is internally threaded as shown at 9 for a purpose to be hereinafter described.
Outwardly of the standard 7, the base plate 6 is provided with upwardly extending ears 10, and these ears are arranged to receive the lower ends of links 11 and 12 respectively which are pivoted to the ears as shown at 13. The upper ends of these links are pivotally connected as shown at 14 to a similar pair of links 15 and 16 respectively. The links 15 and 16 are pivotally connected at their upper ends as shown at 17 to a longitudinally disposed lifting head 18. The lifting head 18 is pivoted as shown at 19 be- 1 tween the walls of a passage 20 formed in the standard 7 adjacent the upper end thereof. The upper face of the head 18 is serrated as shown at 21.
The pivot 14 at the up er end of the links 11 and 12 is in the form of a transversely eX- tending bolt as shown, and this bolt is thus arranged to receive the outer end of a rod 22. The inner end of the rod 22 is provided with an enlarged head 23, and this head is provided with a socket 24. The -socket 24 is thus arranged to receive the circular head 25 formed upon the outer end of a longitudinally extending rod 26. The rod 26 is threaded at its inner end as shown at 27 and this threaded end of the rod is disposed in the threaded passage 9 formed in the boss 8. Outwardly of the standard 7, the Arod 26 is provided with an operating crank 28.
Upon o eration of the rod 26 it will be seen that the inks will be moved inwardly, and the lifting head 18 raised in a convenient manner.
What is claimed is:
A lifting jack comprising a supporting base, a standard carried by the base, links pivoted t0 the base forwardly of the standard, links pivoted to the first named links, a lifting head pivotally connected to the standard at its inner end and having its outer end ivotally connected to the upper ends of the ast named links, the standard having a threaded passage, a rod carried bythe standard and having a threaded portion disposed in the passage, said rod having a portion eX- tending outwardly of the standard and provided at its ends with a circular head7 and a rod pivotally connected at its forward end to the links at their points of connection, said last named rod having a socket at its inner end and arranged to receive the circular head of the first named rod.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES GOBLE.
