To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN Tnvs HnAnN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Victory, in the county of Carroll and State of 'Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ,Overshoe-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention relates to overshoes and more particularly to fasteners therefor, and has forits object to rovide an overshoe equipped with strings y means pf which `it f quickly and securely attached to the oot.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and it will' be understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may he made within the scope" of the claims without departing from'the spirit of the invention.

Referring now to the drawings, there is' shown an overshoe 5 having a pair of openings 6 in eaohside adjacent to the heel. These openings are provided with eyelets as shown, and are spaced to each other longitudinally of the shoe. A pair of similar openings 7 are formed in the s hoe just forwardly of the open portion of the shoe and at each side thereof. Theseopenings 47 are also spaced from each other longitudinally of the shoe and the forward opening? is dropped slightly below the rearward opening, as indicated at 7.
A string S is provided for each side of the shoe, these strings being engaged through the illustrating the transverse portions of the openings 6 and tied around the portions of the -shoe between these openings 6. The' strings are then brought forwardly' outwardly of the shoe, each string thus consisting of two ,end portions Sa and 8b respectively.
-The end portions 8b of the strings are engaged through the forward-openings 7, these end portions being carried across the interior of the shoe, aus shown. T he end portions 8u of the 'strings are similarly engaged through the rearward openings 7 and the extremities of the end portions of the strings are brought upwardly over the forward portion oi the shoe `to be tied together. With this arrangement, the strings extend transversely within the forward portion of the shoe, as described,

foot. t will thus be seen that when the free extremities of the strings are nilled to tighten the strings, the rearward portion of the shoe 'will be drawn forwardly to tightly engage the heel of the wearer, and the transverse strands within the shoe at the forward portion thereof will ybe drawnl tight against the forward portion of the foot. Further# more, the portions of the strings extending over the outer face of the forward portion of the shoe will tightly engage the latter to aid in holding the shoe in position.
ldlhat is claimed is:
l. An overs'noe having a pair of openings spaced from each other.longitudinally of the shoe at each side of the shoe adjacent to the heel, the `forward opening of each pair being located slightly below the rearward opening of each palr, said 'shoe having also a pair of openings forwardly of the opening of tho shoe and each side thereof, the corresponding openings of the two; pairs being in registrav v tion with each other transversely of the shoe,
the forward o ening of each pair being lo cated. slightly elow the rearward opening of the corresponding pair.v
2. The combination with an overshoe having spaced openings in each side adjacent to its heel, sain shoe having a pair of'speced openings therein at each side in its forward portion, of a string-tied in each pair of the rearward openings, said strings having their end portions brought forwardly oxteriorly and passed through the forward openings 'of the shoe to extend transversely of the shoe tl'ierewithin, said strings having their extreinities brought upwardly exterior-l y of and over the forward portion of the shoe and fas tened together.
