Description

PATBNTED 4,. 1908.
u m f l J. BLAGKP CARD ORTICKET HOLDER. APPLIOATIQR FILED N07. 15, 1 901- I JOHN onion, ornonrdr, PENNSYLVANIA:
onnn 0R :rrcmar HOLDER.
Specification of Letters-Patent.
Patented. Aug. 4, 1908.
Application fried November 16; 190". Serial No. 402,382.-
To rill eflzom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jonx BLACK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at, Monaco, in the county of Hoover and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful 1m )rovoments in Card or Ticket Holders, 0. which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the laccompnn ving drawing.
This invention relates to card or ticketholders especially designed for use upon railway freightcars.
The primary object of the invention is, to provide simple and lIRXJCIISlVC- means for clamping a card ticket or label to the door or side of a car in such a manner as to permit the card ticket or label to be readily removed.
'lh invention comprises a spring clip of novel form, in combination with means for securing it in position and permitting of its expansion and contraction.
The invention also consists of a s )ring clip of novel form in combination with a cleat serving as a support for the lower edge of the card or label.
The construction of the improvement will be fully described hereinafter, in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification, and its features of novelty will he set forth in the appended claims.
in the druwing:-Figure 1 is an elevation of the improved holder zippliod to the side of a car, or to 8, board or frame secured to the. car. Fl 2- is a horizontal section of the same, and, Fig. 3 is a central vertical section thereof.
The reference numeral 1 designates a support to which the holder is applied, and
which may be either the side of a car, or :1 separate board or panel secured to the car.
'lwo parallelIver-tically-disposed keepers 2 are secured to the support- 1 by screws 3, each of said keepers consisting of a metallic strophaving a central oll'set 4 through which extends the ends of a spring-clip 5, said ends. being bent inward to previ spring; loops 6 and having the ext-remit 7 reszingupon the oil set portions 4 of the keepers.
The clip 5 is formed with a central loopor bend S serving as a finger piece for drawing the clip own from the sup )ort- 1 to permit of the insertion of a card or label 9 behind it.
Centrally below the linger-piece S of the clip a bracket. 10 erefcrehly o triangular. form is secured to t to sup )ort i, he upper edge of said bracket being vent outward and then upward to provide a clout 11 to support the lower edge of the cord or ticket- 9.
The utilit}- and operation of the improve- .ientwill be readily understood. The tendency of the spring loops 6 is to hold the. clip 5 against the support 1 thus firmly olmnping the cord, ticket or label in position. By
pulling outward 11 ion the linger-piece 8, the
spring-loops (i yie d to permit tue clip to be drawn away from the support for die removal or insertion of the card "or ticket.
The lower edge of the card or ticket issuptilfiTED STATES FATE 0mm 5 ill ported and protected by the cleet 11 as clearly shown in Fig. 3.
It .iill be apparent that. the device may be constructed at. small cost, and readily opplied o the car or other structure or article.
Haring fully descrilu-rd my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
1. A card or ticket holder coin rising pureiiel .teepers, and a spring clip .mving the ends extending through said seepers, and bent to form resilient loops, and its central portion provided with a finger piece.
2. The combination with a support, of parallel keepers secured thereto and formed with-contra -oii sots, and a spring clip haw ing the. ends extending through said oiisets and bent to proi ide resilient loops, and its central portion formed with a loop serving as e. finger piece.
3. The combination with a support, of parallel vertical keepers -ured thereto and formed with central uil so rind. a spring clip provided with a ventral lingo;- piere, sud having its ends extendlng through said keepers and bent. to form resilient loops the'extremities of whirl: bear against said keepers to adapt sriid loops to yield when the clip is puiled outward by its finger-pieee.
' 4. The combination with a support of pnr-
