Hence, when this limit of movement is reached, the shaving stick by this time having been used up, it'ls obvious that the follower disk and nut 8 will merely turn with the screw 6 when the latter is turned, all danger of loosing the follower disk and nut being thereby avoided. I

In use, one may dip the ti of the brush in the water and a ply it to. t e beard and by then pressing t e brush to the face, the

proper quantity of soap may be brought against the face to give the proper consistency to the lather. The lather may then be worked up on the face by using the end of the brush.

From the foregoing description in connection with the be seen that I have pro vided'a very simple, and efficient construction of brush of this character by which the soap may be fed through the bristles of the brush and which will be hygienic in use, as the lather may be worked up on the face and not in a mug. By the use of my brush, the soap is n'escrved in good condition and every particle of it may be used, as the brush handle will also form a handle for the shaving stick until the latter has been entirely used up. At the same time, it is to be noted that the brush a very convenient and handy storage receptacle for the shaving stick which will be found of considerable advantage to travelers or campers, and the like, space being thereby economized, and the soap being always at hand when wanted.

For barber's, the device will be found useful, as well as satisfactory to their customers, as it reduces the risk of contagion to a inini- Imnn, because the soap sterilized when the brush is dipped in the hot water to moisten the bristles.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In a brush of the character described, the combination of a tubular body portion having a uniform cross section throughout its 'length and adapted to receive a stick of accompanying drawings, it will forms sates-e soa, one end of the hollow body )ortion; brist es at thefoppositefcnd of the ho low body portion, a screw-held for rotation in the cap and designe ,to'extend through the body portion, a follower disk mounted on said screw and provided in its periphery with a notch, and a longitudinally disposed spline projecting into the interior of the body portion of the brush, the said spline gradually increasing in size as it up )roaehes the bristles and perforn'iing the douhlefunetion of engaging the notch in the follower to prevent rotation thereof, and of embedding itself in the cap so as to prevent the same a cap closin from falling out of the body portion at the bristle end thereof.

2. In a brush, the combination of a tubular body portion, bristles at one end of the tubular bod-y portion, a cap elosinp the opposite end of'the body portion and havinp a depression formed therein, an actuating screw passing through the cap, an enlarged head carried by the actuating screw and received within the depression in the cap, a follower mounted within the body portion of the brush and operated by the before mentioned actuatinp screw, and a s)lincprojecting, within the brush body and engagin; the follower to prevent rotation of the same.
