To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. STEPHEN- soN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Oklahoma city, in the county of Oklahoma and State of Oklahoma, have invented an inprovement in Photogra hic Devices, of which the following is a speci ication. I
My invention is an improvement in photographic devices and consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
Referring to the drawings forming a part; hereof, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement. Fig. 2 is a vertical section. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33 of Fig. 2.

My invention is especially adapted for making photographic prints of records, and for developing and fixing the print at a'single operation.
In the present embodiment of .the invention, a casin A is provided, comprising the base a, and the side walls a. A front wall a connec't's the sides, and is provided with a rectangular opening a therethrough, the said opening being adapted to permit the passage of the lens tube 1), the bellows b belng arranged partly within the casing, the front of the bellows and the lens tube being carried by a board b slidable upon a bracket 1) secured within the casing and projecting therefrom.

The sensitized paper extends from the roller over a guide roller 0 arranged adjacent to the slit before mentioned, and downwardly behind the bellows to a feeding mechanism to be hereafter described.

The feeding mechanism comprises a roller 0 journaled in the walls of the casing transversely thereof, and rovided on its outer end with a handle 0, t e said roller having a ratchet disk 0 secured thereto outside of the casing, and engaged by a pawl c, for normally fixing the roller. Springs 0 are secured to the door a of the casing, and normally press the said roller towards the disks 0, bosses 0 being secured to the inner face of the door by screws 0, to afford a bearing point for the springs.
The feeding disks 0 are of a'circumference, such that a-singlerotation of the roller 0 will feed a strip of paper corresponding in length to a single print, and that part of the side walls a in which is journaled the roller 0 is cut away from the remaining ortion of the side walls and secured to the oor a so that when the door is removed, the roller 0 is removed therewith.

A handle is secured to the shaft d, outside of the casing, for manipulating the said shaft to move the sliding bar to cause the knife to sever the paper.

It is evident from the description, that when the shaft e is rotated in the direction of the arrow'in Fig. 2, that fin ers e e, will be moved towards the rear of the developing tray, and as they engage the inclined rear wall of the tray, they will be elevated by the same, being retained in a substantially horizontal position. When the rotation of the shaft 6 is reversed, far enough so that the front ends of the fingers a leave the cross rod 0 the free ends of the fingers will have'engaged the inclined rear wall of the tray, and the fingers will move into the developing fluid in a substantially horizontal position.
At the rear of the tray eflfor containing the developin fluid, is a second tray g for containing a fixing solution, and means are provided for receiving the developed print rom the tray 0 and removing it to the tray 9". The said means comprises a shaft or roller G journaled in the side walls of the easing, and provided on its outer end with a handle g for rotating the said shaft, a spring g being secured to a pin on the shaft and to the adjacent sidewall for returning the shaft to its original position. The shaft G is provided with parallel spaced arms g", and the free ends of the arms are connected by links g with a cross bar g sliding on guides g arranged on the side Walls of the casing. The bar is provided on its lower face with brackets g in which is journaled a roller g provided with a-plurality of radial pins g,

At about. the center of the cross bar g is provided a slot to the end wall of which is secured a spring 9 having an angular bend g at the end thereof, and the roller g is provided with a projection for engaging on either side of the angular portion of the spring when the roller is rocked, in order to retain it in such position.
The relation of the stop rods and the pins 7 is such that when the sliding bar is moved forwardly, the roller g is rocked to bring the spring fingers g into contact with the fingers g whereby to grip' the strip of paper, and
when the stop rod g? is engaged by the pins, the fingers are open, thus releasing the paper and permitting it to drop into the fixing solution.
In operation, the record to be copied is placed upon the support, which is adjusted to proper position, and the reflecting medium is adjusted to properly reflect the image on to the sensitized paper at the rear of the bellows. After the exposure is made, the shaft e is oscillated to bring the fingers of the receiving device into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, after which the roller carrying the feed disks is rotated one turn, thus moving the strip of paper downwardly so that the'exp'osed portion passes between the series of fingers; the knife is nowo erated to sever the strip, after which the s iaft e is rotated to lower the strip into the developing solution. A cross bar 6 is arranged transversely of the: casing just below the knife, and in position for engagement by the fingers e when the receiving device is in proper position to receive the strip of paper from the feeding device.
After the image has been developed, the shaft 6 is rotatedsufiicient distance to bring the lower'iin ers of the receiving device to the level of the upper edge of the de-' veloping tray, or slightly thereabove, after which the handle 9 of the shaft G is operated to move the sliding bar forwardly, and the stop rod is arranged in such position as to close the fingers g after they have entered between the fingers ofthe receiving device, so that they are closed upon the stri of paper. A reverse movement of the handle 5;, moves the sliding bar to the opposite end together with the.walls of 66 of its travel, and opens the fingers g to permit the, strip to drop into the fixing solution, where it may he left until removed from the machine.
The curtain c is for the purpose of cover-- ing a portion of the strip when it is not desired to expose the entire length within the carrier chamber.
The partition a and the shelf a, form, the casing, a camerachamber, and this chamber, together I portion of the casing,
with the bellows and lens, forms a complete photographic camera. The complete device comprises in effect, a camera having above a receptacle for the roll of sensitized pa er and below a chamber for developing an fixing the print; means being provided for passing ment of the fingers effectually prevents either of these defects.
The fingers of the means for receiving the paper from the feed rollers and immersing it in the tray, are of a length equal to the length of the paper whereby to properlysupport the said paper.
I claim:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with the casing, having an opening in the front thereof, and a lens adjustably mounted in the opening, of an ad justable'support below the opening, a reflecting medium adjustably mounted 1n front of the lens, a roller for the sensitized paper in the upper portion'of the casing, feed rollers for moving the sensitized 'aper behind the lens, means for severing t e exposed strip below the feed rollers, said means comprising a cross bar slidably mountedin the casing, a knife secured thereto, a shaft journaled below the cross bar and provided with spaced arms, links connecting the free ends of the arms and the cross bar, a spring normally retaining the cross bar in its retracted position, a trayfor a developing fluid below the severing means, means for receiving the severed strip and immersing it in the tray, a tray for a fixing solution adjacent to the first named tray,- .and means for removing the strip from the receiving means and drop ping it into the last named tray.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with the casing, having an opening in the front thereof, and a lens adjustably mounted in the opening, of an adjustable support below the opening, a reflecting medium adjustably mounted in front of the lens, a roller for the sensitized paper in the upper feed rollers for moving the sensitized strip behind the lens, means below the feed rollers for severing the exposed strip, a tray for a developing solution below the severing means, means for receiving the severed strip and immersing it in the tray, said means comprising ashaft journaled in the casing and provided with spaced &
arms, a rod connecting the free ends of the arms, a series of s aced fingers journaled on the rod, a series 0? spaced fingers below the first series, and cooperating therewith, said second series being pivoted to said first named series, means for limiting the opening movement of said second series with respect to the first series, a rod connecting the arms adjacent to the shaft in position for engagement byithe connected ends of the fingers, and means for oscillating said shaft whereby to move the free ends of the fingers into pos1-- lion to receive the severed strip between the series of fingers, and to immerse it in the tray, a tray for a fixing solution adjacent to the first named tray, and means for removing the developed strip from the receiving means and dropping it into the second named tray. 3. In a device of the class described, the combination with the casing, having an opening in the front thereof, and a lens adjustably mounted in the opening, of an adjustable support below the opening, a reflecting medium adjustably mounted in front of the lens, a roller for the sensitized paper in the upper portion of the casing, feed rollers for moving the sensitized strip behind the lens, means below the feed rollers for severing the exposed strip, a tray for developing solution below the severing means, means for receiving the severed strip and immersing it in the tray, a tray for a fixing solution adjacent to the first named tray, and means for removing the developed strip from the receiving meansand dropping it into saidlast named tray, said means comprising a cross bar slidably mounted mum casing, the front end of said cross bar being provided with a series of spaced, fingers, and the body of the cross bar having a plurality of transverse slots therethrough, a roller journaled on the lower the strip, and for lowering them into the tray.

The combination with the casing, pro vided with a camera, and a receptacle for passing the strip through the camera in position to receive an impression, means for severing the exposed strip, a receptacle for a developer within the casing, means for receiving the severed strip and immersing it in the developer, a receptacle for a fixin solution within the casing, and means or removing the developed strip from the receiving means and dropping it into said last named receptacle, said means comprising a cross bar mounted in the casing for sliding movement toward and from the receiving means, said cross bar being provided with bar and provided with fingers for cooperating with the fingers of the cross bar, means for moving the cross bar toward and from the receiving means} and means for rocking the shaft at each end of its travel, whereby to close the fingers on the'developed strip, and to release it when over the receptacle for the fixing solution.
7. The combination with the casing, proface of the cross bar, and provided with pins projecting through said slots, said rollerf being provided with'a series of resilient fingers for cooperating with the first named fingers, a shaft journaled in the casing and provided with spaced arms, links connecting the free ends of the arms with the sliding bar, means for rotating said shaft, a spring for returning it. to its original osition, and spaced stop'rods at each end'of the travel of the cross bar for engaging the pins to rotate the roller whereby to openand close said fingers.
4. The combination with the casing, provided with a camera, and a receptacle for containing the sensitized paper, of means for passing the strip through the camera in position to receive an impression, means for severing the exposed. strip, a tray for containing a developing solution in the casing, and means for receiving the severed strip and immersing it in the tray, said means comprising a plurality of spaced series of fingers, means for holding the fingers for receiving vided with a camera, and a receptacle for containing the sensitized paper, of means for supportingthe paper in position to receive an impression, a receptacle for a developer within the casing, and means for receivmg said means comprising a lurality of series of fingers, and means for olding the fingers with the series in position to receive the paper therebetween and for moving them into the develo Jer.

The combination with the casing, provided with a camera, of means for supporting sensitized paper within the camera, in osition to receive an impression, means within to receive an impression, of receptac es for a a the casing for containing a developing solution, means for receiving the paper from the camera and. immersing it in the developing fluid, means for containing a fixing fluid within the casing, and means for grasping the edge of the paper and withdrawing it from the receiving means and dropping it into-the fixing solution.

The combination with the camera, of a developing chamber therebelow, means for supporting a strip of paper within the camera in position to receive an impression, means for containing a developing solution within the chamber, and means for receiving the exposed paper from the supporting means, and plac ing it in the solution, said means engaging the opposite faces of'the pa er at spaced intervals throughout the ful extent thereof, whereby to properly immerse the paper.
