To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. SIEBER-T, Jr., citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, 'in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful 1m rovements in Cups or Headsfor Massage evices, of which the following is a I specification.-
My invent-ion relates to the improvement of cups or heads for massage devices, and has particular relation to on s of that class of massaging machines or evices in which an interrupted air current is used to produce the deslred action on the skin.
The objects of my invention are to provide an improved cup or massaging head of-this class with a flexlble disk of yielding material which is adapted to have lmparted thereto a rapidvibratory motion and which will readi y expand and contract from the vibrations imparted thereto; to so construct m improve cup as to relieve the vibrating'dis from undue expansion and to produce other improvements the details of which will be more fully pointed out hereinafter. These objects I accomplish in the manner illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in-

For the purpose hereinafter set forth, I provide .a comparatively small air port 4 which extends from the recessed portion 2 cut through the body of the cup as indicated.
5 represents a vibrating disk which is preferably of thin sheet rubber, although as will be obvious, other wellknown flexible yielding material might be employed. This disk has its border or ortion adjoining its edges, clamped or he d firmly against agasket or ring 6 preferably of paper, which in turn is held against the outer end or rim of the enlarged head 1 of the recess 2, by means of a clamping ring 7, the latter comprising a straight portion having internal threads and an inturned flange portion 7".
As shown in the drawing the threaded portion of the clamping ring is adapted to be screwed into engagement with the threads of the enlarged portion 1 of the cup, while the inwardly flanged portion is adapted as shown to be thus clamped against the outer surface of the .disk 5, thereby holding the edge portions of said disk closely in engagement with the head of the cup. It will be understood that the pa er gasket 6 is employed for the urpose o preventing the ruber disk from s ipping or wrinkling when the clamping ring is being screwed into place.

' In the operation of the class 0 massaging devices to which my invention articularly applies, an air pump and contro ling mechanlsm is employed by means of which air is alternately injected through the tubular handle and into the cup and withdrawn therefrom, this operation being sufliciently rapid to result in a corresponding rapid inward and forward or vibratory motion of the flexible disk 5.
In utilizin my device the outer surface of the disk is p aced against the surface to be massaged, with the result that the skin of the erson being operated upon is subjected to t e action of the vibratory movement of the disk.- In order to prevent over-distention of the disk, I have provided the air outlet ort 4 which will afford relief from undesira le air ressure.

1. In a massage device, the combination with the tubular body having a cup-like recess in its outer end, and means for connection with an air conductin pipe, of a yielding disk of comparativeIy thin material clamped over the mouth of the cup recess.
