Be it known that I, CLAUDE B. DAVIS, a citizen of United States, residing at Chase City, in the county of Mecklenburg, State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Non-Refillable Bottles; and I o hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has relation to a new and useful improvement in non-refillable bottles.
The ob ect of my invention is to provide a non-refillable bottle having a cap provided guard stopper.
Interposed between the cap and the end of the bottle neck is a sealing cushion adapted to insure a tight seal the cap provided guard stopper being adapted after the seal has been removed to form a closure with the bottle as will be described more fully hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown in Figure 1 the broken upper portion of a bottle embodying my invention disclosing that bottle as sealed. Fig. 2 discloses the bottle in its emptying condition. Fig. 3 discloses the seal as removed and the cap sealing the bottle. Fig. 4. is a view on line 00 a; Fig. 1. The aim of my invention is to provide a sim le bottle of that class known as nonrefi able bottles the object being to provide a sealing means which must be partly destroyed before the bottle can be opened, the bottle further being so arranged that after the sealing member has been removed the bottle in its normal condition will be held in a closed condition.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown the upper broken portion of a bottle A provided with the contracted neck portion 1 which forms the interior seating for a conventional gravity valve comprising the upper Specification of Letters Patent.

The guard stopper as used in my invention comprises a stem 7 provided above with the sealing cap a of a diameter extending beyond the bottle neck and having the intermediate guiding collar 8 rovided with the escape ways 10. The ower guard head 9 also serves as a guide and is provided with suitable escape ways 10. In its normal condition the plunger or detent 12 is in spring pressed enga ement within the channel or race 15 as disclosed in Fig. 1. Interposed between the rojecting seating cap a and the end of the ottle neck C is a temporary sealing cushion B which is held on the stem 7 as disclosed.
After the bottle has been properly filled the guard stopper is introduced in that the detent or plunger 12 is forced into its seating 14 sothat the guard head 9 may be properly introduced into the neck of the bottle. Now the sealing cushion which is made of any suitable material such as rubber, cork or paper is of a predetermined thickness so that this sealing cushion must be compressed in order that the detent or plunger will find a seating within the race or channel 15 to insure an absoluteliquid tight seal. In order to remove the liquid from the bottle this seal must be removed. After this sealing cushion has been removed the sealing cap a acts as a shield and closure for the bottle as the normal position of this cap then will be upon the upper bottle neck rim as disclosed in Fig. 8. By these means the bottle is kept normally closed While in an upright position. In Fig. 6 I have shown a modification in which the guard head is provided with the closing member I).
In referring to Fig. 1 it will be noticed that the race or channel 15 is of a width permitting the dropping down of the plunger 12 after the seal cushion B has been removed. The sealing cap is made of a considerable width as shown in the figures and forms a peripheral surface nicely adapted to receive certain advertising matter. And
Having thus described my said invention What I claim as new and desire to secure by U. S. Letters Patent is 1. In a bottle of the class specified, a neck provided with an annular race, a guard stopper comprising a stem having a cap at one end of a diameter greater than the diameter of said bottle neck, a guard head having an escape way at the remaining end of said stem, said guard head having a seating, a spring provided plunger within said seating one end being normally held within said race in spring pressed condition, in combination with a cushion seal interposed between said cap and bottle neck requiring removal before said bottle can be emptied.
2. In a bottle of the class specified, a neck provided with an annular race, a guard stopper comprising a stem having a cap at one end having a diameter greater than the diameter of said bottle neck, a guard head having an escape way at the remaining end of said stem, an escape way provided guide collar intermediate of the ends of said stem, said guard head having a seating, a spring provided plunger within said seating adapted to be normally held within said race in spring pressed condition, in combination wlth a removable cushion seal interposed between i said cap and bottle neck.
3. A guard stopper comprising a stem having a sealing cap at one end and a spring pressed laterally working plunger at the remaining end, and a removably held cushion seal below said cap.
4. The combination with a bottle, of a guard stopper comprising a stem having a cap at one end of a diameter greater than the diameter of the neck of said bottle, a guard head at the lower end of said stem, spring pressed means to hold said guard stopper in the neck of said bottle, and a removable cushion seal interposed between said cap and bottle neck.
5. The combination with a bottle having a contracted neck portion, of a guard stopper comprising a stem having a cap at one end of a diameter greater than the diameter of the neck of said bottle, a guard head at the lower end of said stem adapted to engage said contracted neck portion, spring pressed means to hold said guard stopper within the neck of said bottle, and a removable cushion seal interposed between said cap and bottle neck.
6. The combination, with a bottle including an interiorly channeled neck portion, of a movable guard stopper extending into the bottle neck and provided with means projecting into the channel therein, to limit the movement of the stopper.

The combination, with a bottle including an interiorly channeled neck portion, of a movable guard stopper extending into the bottle neck and comprising a sealing cap, a guard-head, and a stem connecting the cap and guard-head; and means carried by the guard-head and extending into the channel, to limit the movement of the stopper.
8. The combination with a bottle including an interiorly channeled neck portion, of a movable guard stopper extending into the bottle neck and comprising a sealing cap,
a guard-head, and a stem connecting the cap and guard-head; and yielding means carried by the guard-head and extending into the channel, to limit the movement of the stopper.

The combination, with a bottle including an interiorly channeled neck portion, of a movable guard stopper extending into the bottle neck; and a spring pressed member carried by the stopper and projecting into the channel, to limit the movement of the 11. The combination, with a bottle, of a guard stopper extending into the bottle neck and including a sealing cap having a diameter greater than that of the bottle neck; and a removable sealing cushion interposed between said cap and the neck of the bottle, for holding the stopper in raised position.
12. The combination, with a bottle, of a guard stopper comprising a sealing cap, a stem and a guard-head connected together; and a removable sealing cushion interposed between said cap and the neck of the bottle, for holding the stopper in raised position.
13. The combination, with a bottle including a neck portion provided with a valve seat, of a stopper extending into the bottle neck and having alimited movement therein longitudinally and a valve carried by said stopper at its lower end and movable therewith into and out of the valve seat.
14. The combination, with a bottle including a neck portion provided with a valve seat, of a stopper movable within the neck portion and comprising a cap having a greater diameter than that of the bottle neck, a. guard-head, a stem connecting said cap and guard-head, and a valve carried by said guard-head and movable with the stopper into and out of the valve seat.
15. A guard stopper comprising a sealing cap, a guard-head, a stem connecting said cap and guard-head, and a valve carried by said guard-head, the several elements of the stopper being formed integral with each other.
16. The combination, with a bottle including an interiorly-channeled neck portion, of a movable guard-stopper extending into the bottle neck and comprising a cap having a diameter greater than that of the bottle neck, to limit the inward movement of the stopper, a guard-head provided with means projecting into the channel in the bottle neck for limiting the outward movement of the stopper, and a connecting stem; and a removable cushion interposed between the cap and the bottle neck, for holding the stopper in raised position, said cushion requiring removal before the bottle can be emptied.
17. The combination, with a bottle including an interiorly-channeled neck portion, of a guard stopper movable within the bottle neck and including a cap havinga greater diameter than the bottle neck, for limiting the inward movement of the stopper; means carried by the stopper and projecting into the channel in the bottle neck for limiting its outward movement; and a sure interposed between said neck, for holding the stopper in raised position, said closure requiring removal before the bottle can be emptied.
