ARMATURE-CORE To all 'whom fit may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN F. CARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at the village of Three Rivers, county of St. Joseph, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Armature-Cores, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in armature cores for dynamo electric machines.
The main objects of this invention are, first, to provide an improved armature core for dynamo electric machines, which is ventilated, or so constructed as to prevent its becoming unduly heated in use. Second, to provide an improved armature core having these advantages in which the parts are very simple and economical to produce and easily assembled.
Further objects, and objects relating to details of construction, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification.
The invention is clearly ed out in the claims.
A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which,

In the drawing, t e sectional views are' taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines, and similar reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents the shaft of the armature. The core is made up of a plurality of metal laminae or plates 2, having radial projections 3 adapted to form channels for the armature coils. (Not shown). The plates are also provided with a plurality of registering openings 4. The plates are secured to the shaft to hold them in proper place preferably by the key 8. The plates are preferably arranged on the shaft in groups, the groups being spaced by the rings Specification of Letters Patent.

5, having a plurality of perforations 7 therein. A pair of rings is preferably .located between each group, particularly on large sized cores. It is obvious that the number of spacing rings could be varied according to the requirements.
The staple-like spacing members 6 are of the same width as the spacing rings, and are arranged between the projections of the groups of plates, as clearly appears in Fig. 2. The number of these spacing members arranged between each group, it is obvious, may be considerably varied. The means for clamping the plates upon the shaft are not here illustrated as they form no part of this present invention, and are well understood in the art.
The openings 4 are preferably arranged through the plates in groups, those of the inner group being embraced by the inner ring and those of the outer group being embraced by the outer ring. The openings in the two groups are preferably arranged in a zigzag relation as this renders the ventilation somewhat more effective.
By thus arranging the parts, the core is formed so that it is open for circulation so that its undue heating in use is prevented. The parts are very economical to produce and may be readily assembled.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an armature core, the combination with a shaft, of a plurality of plates keyed to said shaft, said plates having' a plurality of registering openings therethrough arranged in series and radial projections forming channels to receive the armature coils erforated s acing rings arranged in pairs to ivide said pates into groups; the lnner spacing ring eing arranged between the inner and outer series of said openings in said plates; and staple-like spacing members arranged between said projections on said plates.
2. In an armature core, the combination with a shaft, of a lurality of plates keyed to said shaft, said p ates having a plurality of registering ofpenings therethrough and radial projections 'orming channels to receive the armature coils; perforated spacing rings arranged to divide said plates into groups; and staple-like spacing members arranged between said projections on said plates.
3. In an armature core, the combination with a shaft, of a Plurality of Plates keyed to said shaft, said Plates having a Plurality of registering openings therethrough and radial Projeetions forming channels to receive the armature coils and Perforated spacing rings arranged in pairs to divide said Plates into groups the inner sp aeing ring being arranged between the inner and outer series of said oPenings in said Plates.
4. In an arrnature core, the combination with a shaft, of a Plurality of Plates keyed to said shaft, said Plates having a Plurality of registering oPenings therethrough and radial Projeetions forming channels to receive the armature coils and Perforated sPacing rings arranged to divide said Plates into groups.
5. An armatnre core, coinprising a Plurality of Plates, having registering oPenings tlierethrough and provided with radial Projeetions forming channels to receive the armature coils Perforated rings arranged between said Plates; and staPle-like spacing members arranged between said projections on said Plates.
6. An armature core, eomPrising a Plurality of Plates, .having registering opening-s therethrough and Provided with. radial Proliections forming channels to receive the armature coils; and Perforated rings arranged between said Plates.
