Description
No. 887,686. PATBNTED MAY 12, 1908.
J. MORRISON.
WATER CLOSET SEAT.
APPLICATION I'ILED OUT- 3, 1906.
Unrrnn STATES PATENT onFioE.
JAMES MORRISON, OF MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA.
WATER-CLOSET SEAT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMEs MORRISON, of
v the city of Montreal, Province of Quebec,
Canada, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Water- Closet Seats; and I o hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same. i
My invention has for its object to render Water closet seats sanitary by enabling each individual before using the same to newly cover the top surface thereof, and to this end the invention may be said to consist of the combination and arrangement of parts here-,
- 3 illustrates the stri of paper I prefer to use.
The seat I) and t e frame 0 to which it is hinged are in the main of usual construction the only difference being that the hinges d are located beneath the seat.
In order to enable the seat to be newly covered by each individual before using the same, I mount a roller 6 in brackets f secured to the water closet frame 0, such roller having paper wound thereon which is preferably slightly greater in width than the seat.
The paper is in the form of a strip divided into a series of semi-detached sections slightly greater in length than the seat and presenting lugs g while the middle portion of each is cut away as at h in conformity with the opening inthe seat, the lugs being formed and the sections semi-detached from each other by transverse'lines i of perforations offset at their ends to define the lugs.
To cover the seat the lugs g are taken hold ofand the paper drawn upon until the hole in the first section coincides with the seat opening,
while such lugs also afford means whereby a soiled sheet can be detached without the necessity of touching the main body of the sheet.
A length of Wire is attached to a pair of Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 3, 1906. Serial No. 337,237.
Patented May 12, 1908.
eyes n or other devices, and act as a tension device retaining-the paper against displacement upon the seat.
What I claim is as follows 1. The combination with awater closet seat, of a supply ofpaper in strip form divided into semi-detached sections and each section having an opening therein adapted to register with the opening in the seat the weakening line semi-detaching the sections being off-set at its ends to present lugs at the free end of the strip of paper, and means su porting the said supply at one side of t e seat, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination with a water closet seat I) and the frame 0, of a roller e bearing a flexible material in strip form divided into semi-detached sections and each section being greater in width and length than the seat and having an opening therein adapted to register with the opening in the seat and presenting lugs g, and brackets f rotatably supporting the said roller at the rear of the seat, and a tension device carried by the frame 0 contiguous to the roller and adapted to act upon the said strip, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
3. The combination 'with a water closet seat I) and the frame 0, of a roller e bearing a flexible material in strip form divided into semi-detached sections and each section beinggreater in width and length than the seat and having an opening therein adapted to register with the opening in the seat and presenting lugs g, and-brackets f rotatably supporting the said roller at the rear of the seat, and a'length m of wire supported by eyes n carried by the frame c'contiguous to the roller the wire being adapted to act upon the said strip, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth. I
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. I
' JAMES MORRISON.
