Be it known that I, ELI KNEPPER, of Columbus, in the county of Franklin, and State-of Ohio, have. invented a new and useful Improvement in Shovel-Blows;` and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the construction and operation of the' same, reference'being had to the accompanying is given a perspective view of my improved shovelplow.

The nature of my invention consists in constructing a shovel-plow with lthree shovels, in which the two outer ones are movable in such a way, thatthe plowrnan is able to bring them nearer to the middle one, or further from it, withoutv stopping his work, according to circumstances.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to`descn'be its construction and operation'.

My plow has three shovels AA A, the middle one of which is standing alittle in front of the two outer ones. 1

The outer shovels arefastened on two beams B B,

which are brought in connection with a middle beam,

C, only by two iron plates D D, and two bolts F F, on which latter, the outer beams turn.

To enable vthe plowman to contract or expand the plow during his work ,without stopping it, by means of the two handles of the plow G. G, and to make the two outer shovels always 'go' back to theirnormal distance from'the middle shovel, two -springsH H are fastened between the middle and outer beams. Two

yslit bars I I are fastened on the outer beams. The bars move easily over each other by the application of three v rollers K K K, of which two are fastened on the ends drawings making a part of the specication, in which of the slit bars, and the third is placed overthe slit bars I I, and fastened on the middle beam G.

g This plow can be used as a cultvator, and as a shovelplow, and one is able to do quicker work with it, than with any other shovel-plow. It nishes a row at once, when it is necessary to go through thrice with any other shovel-plow.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The two slit bars I I, and rollers K KK, in cornbination with the beams B B and 0,-eonstructed and arranged as described.

2. The two springs H Hfastened between the middle beam O, and outer beams B B, which bring the outer shovels always back to their normal distance from the middle shovel, when contracted as herein described.
