Description

PATENTED APR. 28, 1908. M. L. SURPRENANT.
HOLDER FOR NURSING BOTTLES. APPSLIGATION FILED SEPT. 14, 1907.
[NI/EN r00 fife deJie-Z, ,de yareizarz 16" 4 TTOHNEYS ferred embodiment of toward each other to provide fingers 14 for 'wires which are held MODESTE LOUIS SURPRENANT, OF INDIAN LAKE,
NEW YORK.
HOLDER FOR NURSING-BOTTLES.
To all -whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MoDEs'rE L. SURPRE- NANT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Indian Lake, in the county of Hamilton and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders for Nursin -Bottles, of which the followingis a full, 0 ear, and exact description.
The invention has in view an improved holder for so porting and holding in convenient a-ccessib e ositions while in use, an ordi naryor other orm of nursing bottle, whereby the child may be in easy reach of the bottle and be relieved, to an extent, of its Weight, in addition to it being im ossible for the bottle tobe dropped to the oor and broken.
The invention also provides for-retaining the bottle in a removed or ino erative position when it is not in use, and or preventing the accidental withdrawal of the nipple.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying .drawings forming a part of this specification, in whlch similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the premy improved holder, showing it attached to the top rail of a bed or crib and with the bottle in position as when in use; and Fig. 2 is an edge view of the construction shown in Fig. 1, showing the bottle in a removed or inoperative position.
The holder is'in the nature of a frame, preferably of wire, and consisting of three rincip al members 10, 11 and 12, the memer 10 serving to attachthe holder in some fixed position, as to the top rail of a childs bed or cradle, as illustrated in Fig. 1. For this purpose I construct the opposite ends of the member 10 with two U-shaped hooks or clips 13, the extremities of which are turned binding tightly against one side of the rail.
The intermediate ortion of-the member 10 is off-set at one si e of the clips and pivotally or swingingly supports the member 11, the pivoted connectlon being effected between these two members by forming the inner extremities of the member 11 with eyes 15which receive and embrace the member 10.
The member 11 is composed of two side rigidly spaced apart near the eyes 15 by a cross iece 16, the latter being preferably. made by twistin two strands of wire together and bending t e ex- Specification of Letters Patent.

eyes 17 which receive and tremities thereof into close embrace with the Patented A ril 28, 1908. v
side wires. The side wires of the opposite end of the member 11 are also bent to form provide uides for the side wires of the member 12, t is latter member being further slidably supported from themember 11 by a cross-wire 18 which is rigidly attachedto the member 12 and embraces the side wires of the member 11 at the inside of off-set portions 19 formed therein, which serve as stops for limiting the sliding movement between the two members 11 and 12 in an outward direction. The cross-wire 18 at an intermediate point of its length is bent upon itself to provide-a rojection 20, the said projection being ofi-set slightly at one side, and is for the purpose of engaging the top rail of the bed, crib or other device to which theholder' is attached, and retain the bottle in a removed position, as illustrated in Fig. 2.
Rigidly attached to the cross-Wire 18 and extending substantially'the full length thereof is a connecting-wire formed integrally with the two side wires of the member 12 and a wire 21 having its ends bent outwardly and fashioned to provide clamping-jaws 22 which embrace and bind the nursing bottle about its edges a short distance from its bottom.
The side-wires of the member 12, near their outer ends are braced by a cross-wire 23, from which points they are turned toward each other and are rovided with substantially semi-circular c serve to bind the nipple a ove the neck of the bottle and prevent its accidental withdrawal when the bottle is in use.
It is a parent by reason of the pivotal connection E the sliding connection between the members 11 and 12, that the bottle may be swun and slidably adjusted upon its support to bring it within approximately any convenient accessible position, in addition to relieving the child of the weight of the-bottle and its contents to an extent, besides preventing the bottle from being dropped to the floor and broken.
The invention as shown and described while being my preferred specific construction may nevertheless be modified within the purview of the appended claims.
Having thus escribed my invention, I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a nursing bottle holder, a wire member having the opposite ends thereof bent to or inoperative am ing-jaws 24 whichprovide clips, a second wire member consisting of side wiresconnected together and swingingly sus ended on the intermediate portionof the rst member, and a third w1re member h avin g clam ping-1 aws for embracing the body of the bottle and embracing the nipple about the neckof the bottle.
2; In ainursing bottle holder, a member for attaching the holder, a second member pivoted to the attaching member, and a third member. s'lidably connected with the second member, having means for retaining the bottle.
3; In anursing bottle holder, a member for attaching the holder, a second member pivoted to the attaching member, and a third member slidably connected with the second member, having clamping-jaws for embracing thebody of the bottle and embracing the nipple about the neck of the bottle.
4. Ina nursing bottle hold-er, a member havingmeans for attaching it to the top rail of a crib or the like, a second member pivoted to the attaching member, a third member her having U-shaped clips at its opposite ends with an intermediate off-set portion, a second Wire memberconsist ng oi' sidewires spaced apart and braced together swingingly suspended on said intermediate off-set portion of the first member, a third wire member consisting of side wires slidable in eyes formed at the extremities of the side wires of the second member, a cross-wire connected to said third wire member having eyes embracing the side wires of the second member,
clamping-jaws for bindingly engaging the bottle at two points, and means carried by said third wire member for retaining the holder in inoperative position.
7. In a nursing bottle holder, a wire member having U-shaped clips at its opposte ends connected by an intermediate ofi-set ortion, a second wire member comprising si e-wires spaced apart and rigidly connected together pivotally suspended on the intermediate por tion of said first wire member, the side Wires of said second Wire member having off-set portions with eyes formed at the outer extremities thereof, a third wire member comprising side wires slidable through said eyes, a wire connected to said third wire member having eyes embracing the side wires of said second wire member at the inside of the off-set portions thereof, the said cross-wire having an off-set projection intermediate its length adapted to retain the bottle and holder in a removed position, and clamping-jaws for embracing the bottle about its body and neck. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
