Be it known that l, BYRON L. GREEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at such as will enable 0t iers skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and-use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to clasps, and more particularly to those of resilient wire, or spring metal.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive clasp of such construction as to present opposed clamping jaws or members adapted to clam two articles together, as for instance a rawer leg and stocking, so as to serve as a garment or stocking supporter.

A further object is to provide such a clasp of a shape to conform to the contour of the leg to enable it to lie closely thereto and of such a structure as to enable the ready entrance of the articles or garments between the clasping or clampingjaws.

The above objects are attained by the device, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a general view, showing the application of my improved clasp for supporting a stockin leg. Fig. 2 is a erspec tivc view of the clasp. Fig. 3 is a p an view thereof. Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view as on line 44l of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the clasp, and Fig. 6 is an enlarged view in elevation, showin the clasp in position for securing the top of a stocking to a drawer leg.

Referring to the characters of reference, 1 designates a loop at the end of the clasp which is preferably circular in form and from the terminals of which extend the clasping members or jaws 2 and 3, respectively. These jaws or jaw members lie-approxiniately parallel, the jaw 2 being provided with a short upwardly and outwardly turned end l, and the jaw 3 with a longer downwardly and outwardlyv turned end 5. The folded portion of the drawer leg and, the top portion 8 of the stocking leg are entered between the flared ends .of the jaw members and said members forced thereon so as to clamp carts between them, as clearly shown ligs. e and e. The residency of the spring wire of which the clasp is formed, causes the jaw members to clasp or griIp said garments with such force as to hold them securely together and retain the clasp position thereon, said clasp when being employed in this manner presenting its curved face so as to conform to the contour of the log and lie closely thereto, avoiding any unusual projection and obviating annoyanceand inconvenience to the wearer.

It will be noted that the construction of the clasp is such as to cause the cl asping jaws to stand approximately parallel so that the full gri ping surface of the jaws is made availab e. By causing the outer end of the lower jaw to extend beyond that of the upper jaw, it is made to serve as guide for entering the goods between the jaws, facilitating the placing of the clasp in position. By making one of the j shorter than the other and with less projcctibn at its end, the liability of the ends of the aws catching upon anything passing over them is meterialiy reduced.

Having thus fully set forth my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patrnt, is: l
