ADJUSTABLE DRAWING-BOARD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 31, 1906.
Patented March 10, 1908.
Serial No. 328,558.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILHELM ZoRNseH, a citizen of the German Empire, and resident of Cologne, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Drawing-Boards, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object an adjustable drawin board of cardboard or the like, for freehan drawing.
The essential feature of the invention consists therein that the support on ,the back of the board is joined to the board by a band which can be adjusted with regard to length, and which, according to the length, is stretched by a smaller or larger adjustingflap, in order to be able to adjust the support in the stretched positions which correspond with the length of the band. The fixing of the su port in the spread position makes it possib e to give to the drawing-board the most different angular positions in the various ositions of the same.
T e subject of the invention is illustrated the drawing board in a front view, and Fig.
10 is a back view on a reduced scale. Similar letters refer to similar throughout the several views.
On the back of the drawing-board a, whose front-side serves to hold the drawing parts paper is fastened the support I), which can be turned up, for which purpose the board a carries a rigidly fixed slat g, to which is hinged the support I). The support I) itself carries a small adjusting-flap or brace c and a large adjusting fia or brace d, which are both hinged to the free end of the support at 0.
The free end of the support I) is connected to the board a by means of a band of adjustable length. In the embodiment shown in the drawing the band consists of two separate arts 6 and e The part c has one of its en s secured to the board a in any suitable manner, such as by having the end passing through a slot in the board and glued to the front of the board below the paper covering. The part c has one end secured to the support I). The free ends of the parts 6 and e can be connected together at diiferent points to change the length of the band, and for that purpose the part e carries a pair of head members 8 which are spaced from each other, and the art (2 is provided with a socket member 15 w ich is adapted to engage either of the head members to form a head and socket fastener.
With the aid of the two-part band (2 e the free end of the support I) can be connected with the board a in different positions. In order to secure or fix the parts in this position the band e, e is stretched either with the aid of the small adjusting-flap 0 (Figs. 1 to 4) or in the lengthened state by means of the large adjusting flap (1 (Figs. 5 to 8). By
this stretching of the band the support is secured in its position with regard to the.
drawing-board and the board can thus be adjusted on a table f under the most different angles to the table, as will be seen at once from the drawing.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent 1s- 1. The combination with a drawing board, of a support hinged at one end to the back of the board, a longitudinally adjustable flexible connection between the free end of the support and the board, and braces of different length adapted to secure the board and the support in the difierent an ular positions determined by the length 0 the flexible connection.
2. The combination with a drawing board, of a support hinged at one end to the back of the board, a band of adjustable length connecting the free end of the support and the board, and a plurality of flaps of different length hinged at one end to the support and having their other ends adapted to rest against the back of the board to secure the support and the board in the diflerent angulbar piositions determined by the length of the In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILHELM ZCRNSCH.
