` BRACELET.
` Specification of Letters Patent.'
.Patented Feb. 25, 19078.
Application filed April l7| l907. Serial No. 36`8754.
T o all whom t mayconcern: v
Be 1t known that I', SIGMUND L. LEDERER,
. a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, inthe county of Providence and -State of Rhode Island, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Bracelets,
of which the following is a specification, reference being had thereln to the accompanying drawing. l
My invention relates .to concealed joint bracelets, or such as comprise two hollow hinged wings; and has-for its object an irnproved combined guard and fastening means Whichshall be strong, durable, inexpensive andv applicable to both solid and plated blacelets. v
To these ends essentiallymyinvention consists ofthe novel construction and combination' of parts hereinafter set forth, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein, f
Figure 1 is a top plan elevationof a bracelet embodying my invention. Fig. 2, a longitudinal section of the adjacent'ends of the same in engaged'position. Fig. 3, a like'section of the same in disengagedposition'.- *Fig 4, an end elevation of one ofthe wings.
5, a sectionon line :c of Fig. 2. Fig. 6, a
Fig.
Y section on line yj'of Fig. 3.v Fig. 7, a plan tion near its end. Within the wing, A, is a- Hat metallic spring loo D, comprising the upper and lower arms and d respectively', both arms being preferably transversely curved to conform to the curve of the wing. The spring character of the loop, D, forces the arms into contact with the top and bottom of the Wing wall, A. Near the forward end of the spring arm, d, is a projection, d2,
which projects through the opening, a, pro-V vided with a mail Channel, as. The forward end of the arm, d,is downwardly inclined as at d4, and i's provided with a slot, d5, in its iiiclined portion in front of the projection, d2. The lower spring arm, d', is provided in its end with a lon itudinal slot, d6, in which is fixed by soft so der, (Z7, the end of the u ard or guide rod, E. The latter is provide near its soldeiedend with a transverse bend, e; and the yfree end of the rod is bent to form a hook, e. The hook is of greater width -or diameter than the length of the o ening, b2,
of the cap, b, through which the ro asses.
' In operation the endof the arm, -acts as a spring latch. .W'hen closed, the end of the wing, A, rests over the projecting end ofthe cap, b, and abuts against the wing, B; while the top. wall, of the* cap registers the' slot', d5, of the arn1,d; as shown in Fig. 2.' The parts are unlatched by pressing down upon the projection, d2.4 The unlatched ends may phen be distended until the top Wan of the ca b, .contacts with ,the end of the hook, e.
If desired, the rod, E, may be fixed to the end of arm, d, instead of the arm, di', as shown in Fig. 8
The loop lmakes it possible to utilize the structure for plated goods as it avoids the annealin effect of hard soldering. It will be observe that by the above construction the guard and spring parts are engaged with the bracelet win s without the use of solder.
v1ill'hat I claim is,
1. In a bracelet two hollow wingshinged together, a' cap fixed in one wing and provided with an opening, a spring loop mounted in the otherv wing, a latch upon one end of the loop adapted to engage the cap, a guide rod upon the other end of the loop4 traversin the opening, and a hook upon the end o the guide rod within the first-mentioned wing.
2. In a bracelet two hollow wings hinged together, a spring loo in one member, a latch upon the loo a ro upon the loop, a hook upon the ro and means in the other wing adapted to engage the latch andthe hook.
3. In a bracelet two hollow wings hinged to ether, a cap ixedin one wing and provi( ed with an opening in its top Wall, a two arm spring loop mounted in the other wing, a recess in one arm of the loop adapted to redescribed connection ofthe arm and ceve the magil Uf the 'cap wail, n, slof in the l! ugm the fdd,- tjiid means in th Gthr fg other amf tha loop, a guide md xad sa, apted to engags 'bhe atch and hook.;
