Description

EMILE RAYN A'U D OF BRUssELs, BELGIUM.
PRQCESS F SOLIDIFYING MINERAL OILS.
To an whom it may con cern.
Be it known that I, EMILE BAYNAUD,'subject of the King of Belgium, residing in Brussels, in the Kingdom of Belgium, have invented a new and useful Process of Solidifying Mineral Oils, forwhich patents have been obtained in Germany, on July 31, 1902; Russia, on August 3, 1 902 Austria, on August 11, 1902; Hungary, on August 22, 1902; Belgium, onNovember 20, 1902, Nr. 166,826, and of which the followingiS, a full, clear, and exact description. Y I v I The present invention relates to the solidification of mineral oils and other 'hydrocar-' bone and alcohols by means of soda soap,
charged with silicate of soda.'
It is based on theproperty of the silicate;
of soda, to solidify itsdissolvents andjt consists in the addition to theliqu id to be solidified, of a hard soda soap which is charged with silicate of soda. v The silicate of soda increases its solidifying power in such a way thatyery small quantities will be sufficient to solidify the said liquids.
. Specification of Letters Patent'.
Application filed March 3- 1903- Serial Not 1%.005.
I The process is carried out in the following Patented Feb. 18, 1908.
manner: i The liquid to be solidified is miXe with a suitable quantity of soda soap charged with from 4 to 5 times its weight of silicate of soda. The mixture is then heated to at least 40 centigrade and as soon as the mass is solidified it is allowed to cool.
Having now fully described my invention, whatl claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
The herein described process of solidifying liquid mineral oils, hydrocarbons and alcohols, which consists in adding to the liquidto be solidified a suitable quantity of soda soap charged with several times its weight of silicate of soda, heating the mixture to at least ceintigrade," and then cooling the mixture until solidified.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my handin presence of two witnesses. EMILE RAYNAUD.
Witnesses: AUG. JERIssEN, GREGORY PHELAN.
