Description
PATENTED JAN. 28, 1908.
H. VOGLER.
SERVING TABLE.
APPLIOATION FILED FEB.26,1907.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY VOGLER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOHN HENRY WOLF,
OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
SERVING-TABLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 28, 1908.
, T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY VOGLER, a citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Serving-Tables, of which the following is a specification containing a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention relates to a serving table, which is particularly adapted for use upon ordinary dinner tables, or it may be used upon tables in restaurants, buffets, or dining cars.
The object of' my invention is to provide a rotating platform, or carrier, which is arranged u on a table and which is adapted to receive ishes or receptacles containing the food to be served upon the table, and which carrier can be readily rotated so as to conveniently bring any particular dish or receptacle immediately in front of all of the persons seated at the table.
To the above pur oses, my invention consists in certain noveffeatures of construction and arrangement of parts, which will be hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a dining table, on the center of which is located my improved platform or carrier and on which platform are shown a number of dishes; Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical section taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view of the rotary platform or carrier, parts there of being broken away.
Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings:1 designates a base plate, H which is preferably constructed of heavy sheet metal in circular form, and which is removably located on the center of a table. Fixed to the center of said plate is a block 2, in the top of which is formed a semicircular recess 3, which serves as a bearing for a semicircular block 4, which is fixed to the under side and center of a cross frame 5. the under sides and outer ends of this cross frame are rollers or casters 6 which bear on top of the base plate 1, thus permitting the frame to freely rotate upon said base plate.
Fixed to Fixed to the cross frame 5 is a platform or carrier 7, which is preferably constructed of sheet metal, circular in form, and having its edge beaded, as designated by 8.
Fixed to the center of the frame 5, and projecting upwardly therefrom, is a tubular standard 9, in the upper end of which is arranged for rotation a stem 10, and carried thereby is a disk 11, preferably of sheet metal, and having its edge beaded, as designated by 12.
The dishes or rece tacles containing the food to be served are ocated on therotating platform or carrier 7, and also upon the disk 11, and the persons seated at the table by engaging the edges of said carrier and disk can readily rotate the same in either direction to bring the different dishes into convenient positions to be served.
The rollers or casters 6 support the weight of the dishes or receptacles and the contents thereof, and provide for the free rotation of the platform or carrier in either direction.
A serving table of my improved construc tion is simple, inexpensive, easily 0 erated, can bereadily removed from the tab e whenever desired, and provides simple means for conveniently holding and carrying food to be served at a dining table.
I claim: A serving table, comprising a base plate, a block fixed to the center thereof in the top of which is formed a semi circular recess, a cross frame arranged above the base, a semi circular block fixed to the center thereof and operating in the recess in the block on the base plate, rollers fixed to the subscribing witnesses.
HENRY VOGLER. Witnesses M; P. SMITH,
E. L. WALLACE.
