To all 'whom 'it nia/y concern j Beit known that I, SILvnsTnR Slimline, of Olayton, in the county of J'eiiersom-and State of New York; have invented a new and improved Pea-Rake; and 1 do hereby declare that Vthe following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part `of this specication.
rlfhe present invention relates to a new and useful improvement in pea-rakes, and which consists in a malleable-'iron socket, cr a double ferrule, welded, or oth rwise joined to a curved brace o r extensin of' the 'same material, which is4 connected to the rakehead by rivets, or in other suitable manner, thus forming a suit-` able lbend, or curve, s0 that the handle will need no crook, or bend to putl the head and blade in a proper angle for cutting, and, furthermore, will not lose its bend, or curve, as the ordinary bentwoodeu handle invariably does after using but a short time, the construction. and operation of which will be understood from the following description, reference lbeing 'had to the accompanying drawings, in whieh- Figure 1 represents a plan of my improved pear-rake.
Figure 2 is a sectional side view of the same, taken in the plane a: x. v
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The'letters A, in thel accompanying drawing, represent two malleable-iron curved braces, which are connected to' the ferrules b b, into which a straight rake` handle, c, is set, and the-rake-head d is secured to the other end of the brace a by screws c, or otherwise.
The toothed cutter f is set iu the wooden head d, and
is held secure there by the rake-teeth g, which are split on their upper ends, so as to straddle the toothed cutgether, and to the rake-head, by means of the curved braces a a, as herein shown and described, forv the purpose specified.
2. The toothed cutter j, held to the rake-,head `by the split teeth g', as herein described, forV the purpose specified.
The above specification of my invention signed by I me, this day of ,1868.
