in the county of Alameda andtate of California have invented new and useful Imrovements in Dental Tools, of which the ollowing is a specification. Y

My invention re1ates to-rotary abrading, cleaning and polishingtools used in the 1practice of dentistry, and pertains especia y to the combination by novel means-in a unified structure of a dental disk, or grinding .and polishing annulus, and a hollow mandrel.

My invention consists of the parts and the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying drawings, m which Figure 1 is; an end view of a dental tool embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a'longitudiand 5 are-. similar sectional views of modified construction to be hereinafter described.

In the preferred form of my invention, with articular reference to bristle brushes, and shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive A re resents a tubular shank, stem or mandrel of ordinary metal tubing, of approseamed orseamless, so long as it is expansible and for dental purposes is usual y about priate size and length. i This tube may be 2 is a short sleeve fittin over one end of tube A, and having a suita le mtegral annular flange 3, made of suitable shape to form a seat for'one side of the brush.

The main feature of this invention is the use'of a hollow expansible stem or mandrel having a bore of relatively smaller diameter than that of the nail, whereby the latter will act expansivel when driven home to hold the sleeve to t e mandrel, and to clamp the disk between the'p'arts 3 -5. - The brash-4 is preferably made by takinga bundle of bristles b and binding them about the middle as at b, The nail 6 having the washe'rfi in position, is then passed lengthwise through the center of this bundle, and the point of the nail is inserted into the end of the tube A. When the nail is driven into tube A to expand the latter, the parts 3' 5 act to spread the two ends'of the bundle umbrella'fashion, and to fold'them so that when the nail is driven up to the head, the complete brush 4 will be formed, all of the parts of the device being rigidly and permanently connected. i l

1. Ina dental tool, the combination of a tubular ex ansive mandrel, a sleeve fitting the end of t e mandrel, a dental disk, a flange and washer between which the disk is held,
