To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR A. ROLAND, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Greenville, in the county of Darke and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Candlestick, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to candle sticks.

The object of the invention is to provide novel means for feeding the candle upward as it is consumed and to render such means more durable and wear resisting in character.

.l/Vith the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts of a candle stick as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a view in top plan of the candle stick. Fig. 2 is a view in vertical longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a detail view of the candle-lifting element.

Referring to the drawings, A designates the base or pan of the candle stick, which is provided, as usual, with a linger hold G, and B the socket having a flat bottom b. The base may, as herein shown, be provided with a flattened annular portion a and with a centrally-disposed upward projecting boss a having an orifice at its center.

The base and socket are held assembled by a collar nut E and a jam or looking nut e. In this instance, the collar nut E projects through the registered orifices of the socket and base, the collar bearing against the under side of the boss and the nut e being screwed upon the collar and turned into engagement with the bottom of the socket.

By this arrangement of assembling means it will be seen that the base and socket will be rigidly assembled, and further that these parts will be mutually braced and reinforced against tendency to yield to pressure or strain.

The means for raising the candle as it is consumed, comprises a bolt or plunger O that engages the threaded orifice of the collar nut, and carries at its lower end a head or knob c by which it may be turned, and at its upper end a pair of disks D and F, the former of which is of greater diameter than the latter, to present an effective rest for the candle.

The improvement herein described, while simple in character, will be found thoroughly effective in operation and will materially add to the stability and usefulness of the article.

The combin. tion of a base provided with a centrally disposed upstanding boss, a socket arranged on the boss, an internally and exteriorly threaded collar nut projecting through the boss and socket and bearing against the under side of the base, a jam nut engaging the collar nut to clamp the base and socket together, a threaded plunger en gaging the collar nut, a knob secured to the lower end of the plunger, and disks secured to the upper end of the plunger and being of considerably less diameter than the bore of the socket whereby to obviate binding, the knob and disks operating to prevent the disconnection of the plunger from the socket, thereby to prevent loss of the former.
