To all whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST WEBER, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Tilsit, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Exhaust-Silencers for Gas-Motors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined exhaust silencer and motor room ventilator for gas motors, which essentially comprises a channel-pipe arrangement which is enlarged towards its outlet.
The improved arrangement is represented on the accompanying drawing in which Figures 1 2 are an elevation andplan respectively, of the same as attached to a gas motor, while Figs. 3 to 5 show different sections through the channel-pipe arrangement.
From the exhaust box a which is mounted. in a pit b, the exhaust pipe 0 is led through a channel-pipe d of equal bore so as to project with its orifice into another channel-pipe (Z forming the continuation of the channelpipe (I and which is gradually enlarged towards its outlet in order to prevent the exhaust gases from touching its walls and to enable them to expand in a noiseless way. Havmg fully described my invention,
what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An exhaust silencer for gas motors, comprising in combination with the exhaust box (a) and the exhaust pipe (0), a channelpipe (d) of equal bore, and a channel pipe ((1 provided with an outlet (6) and directly connected to said channel-pipe (d) and gradually enlarged towards its outlet so as to form the largest area at the latter and designed to receive the orifice of said exhaust pipe, for the purpose set forth.
2. A combined exhaust silencer and motor room ventilator for gas motors, comprising in combination with the exhaust box (a) and the exhaust pipe (0), a pit (5) ar ranged beneath the motor room and designed to receive said exhaust box, a perforated plate designed to cover saidpit towards the motor room, a channel-pipe (d) of equal bore directly connected to said pit, and a channel-pipe ((1 provided with an outlet (6) and directly connected to said channelpipe ((1) and gradually enlarged towards its outlet so as to form the largest area at the latter and designed to receive the orifice of said exhaust pipe, all for the purpose set forth.
