It will be observed -that the car herein shown and described is of greater width at the bottoni than at the top, while its end walls slope lownwardly and inwardly in the usual manner. By this construction the compression or congestion of the load as it' discharges,. due to the downward lconvergence of the end walls, is largely oi'l'set and neutralized by the downward divergence of the side walls which affords perfectfreedoni for the action of gravitation and greatly facilitates the freedo-niof discharge andprevents stakes secured to the inner faces of said side A sills, and a load-holding receptacle having its side Walls secured to said side' stakes, substantially as described.

5. In a car of the-class described, the cornbination of channel side sills disposed with their flangesextended outwardly, side stakes having short outer flanges and long inner flanges, the webs of. said, 'stakes tapering from the ends of said short outer flanges to said innerilanges, said outer flanges being fastened to the inner surfaces of said channel side sills, and a car body secured' to the inner 'Hang-cs of said side stakes, substantially as described.
6. In a car ol the classdesc-ribed, the conl-l bination' of side sills, side stakes disposed insideof and secured to said side sills, and a car body having downwardlydivergent side walls and downwardly convergent end walls attached to said side stakes, substantially as described.

Ina car of the class described, the coinbination with the under-frame, of a load-` holding` receptacle mounted centrally on said under-traine, and inclined end braces connecting the upper ends of said receptacle with the center sills of the ii`iideifranie vinside of the body-holsters, substantially as described.
