. This invention relates to cars, and particularly to dump-cars having hopper-bottoms. The object of my invention is to provide a dump-car which is of simple construction and capable o-carrying avery heavy load and in which the. entire contents of the car Awill be discharged when the doors of the car are opened.
Referring to the drawings, which represent the preferred form of my invention, 1 designates the center sills forming `part of the un-" derraming of the car, said sills consisting of channels which are laced back to back for a portion of the lengt of the car, as shown in" nels which form the center sills diverge outwardly from eachother and then extend erably the holsters-consist of I-beams 2, ex-

For strengthening the posts 22 at the four corners of the body portion of the car inclined braces 82 are provided. These braces are preferably angles and are connected at their upper ends by means of plates 33 to the corner-posts, the lower ends of said braces being connected to the outer faces of the sub side sills by rivets 34, The transverselyextending angles 25, to which the upper edges of the floor-plates 24 arc connected. are supported and braced by vertical angles 35, connected thereto and fasteiieil at their lower endsv by means of plates 36 to the top cover-'- plate of the bolster.
As herein shown, the side plates 20 are comparatively shallow, and each plate has connected to its lower edge an angle 37, hav-4 ing its horizontal legprojecting inwardly. The side sheets of the bottoni of the hopper consist of inclined floor-plates 38 at the central portion of the hopper, inclined plates 39 at the e'nds of the hopper, and two pairs of doors 40 and 40, said inclined plates being connected at'their' upper edges to theside plates and at their lower edges to the center sills, the floor portion of the ltiopper abovethe doors being formed by plates 41, which are connected to the side plates and to the floorplates above referred to. The end sheets of Vthe hopper are connected to the said floorplates 39 by angles 42.
To revent any of the contents of the car from od ing at the point intermediate the pairs of doors, this portion of the floor consists of plates 43, which are so arranged that they forni an inverted V to deflect the contents of the car through the door-o enings. In order that the 'contents of the car may.' be deflected outwardly beyond the sides of' the car, I prefer to provide the car with triangular-shaped plates 58, located at each side of the door-openings, so that when the doors are dropped these plates, and the doors will practically forni a chute. These plates are connected to the inclined floorplates 38 and 39 and are also connected to side stakes consisting of angles 59, riveted to the side plates .of the car and extendinfir downwardly to` a point below the center sills, said plates being additionally braced by channels 6(l and 61,l connected thereto and extending from side to side of the car.
