To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. CAMP- BELL, of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Incandescent Gas-Lamps, of which.

My invention relates to that type of incandescent gas lamps known commercially as arclights which are usually constructed in large sizes with metal intensifiers or stacks and used for illuminating stores and other public places. i
The object of my invention is to secure a strong and serviceable lamp which may be manufactured at an expense sufficiently low to enable it to be placed on the market at a low price. I attain this end by peculiar features of construction concerning the frame parts and the combination of the chimney shade and gas tubes therewith.
It is also an object of the invention to improve the construction of the pilot light device and its arrangement with the chimney and intensifierso as to reduce the liability to breakage and accidental extinguishment.
It is also an object of my invention so to organize the parts as to enable me to assemble' the lamp in single or multiple units at will making either a single or cluster light as desired and also readily to convert the lamp into an exposed or globe-inclosed light as desired.
In this manner, by' simple devices and operations, I provide a lamp which may be readily adapted to the various requirements of the trade.
The invention involves other features of importance and all will be fully set forth hereinafter and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate, as examples, two embodiments of my invention, in which drawings,
Figure 1 is an elevation of the lamp with parts in section, showing it assembled with a single burner; Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the lamp assembled with two burners and an inclosing globe; Fig. 3 is a sectional plan on the line 33 of Fig. 1.; Fi 4 is a sectionalplan on the line 1-4. 0 Fig. 1; and

Referring particularly to Fig.1, 10 indicates'the gas supply pipe which supports the upper shade 11, and from which two gas pipes 12 and 12 branch. These pipes extend downward to a union 14 containing a valve 15 and sustaining the burner proper 16. -Of the tubes 12 and l2" the former leads the gas to the valve 15 while the latter is stopped off, in the adjustment shown in Fig. 1, from the gas and serves simply to assist in sustaining the various partsof the lamp. Surmounting the burner 16 is a glass chimney 17 with a reduced upper end 17 This end 17 is received within the lov. er end of-the metal intensifier tube 18 which extends upward between the tubes 12 and 12 to a point near their upper ends and is covered by the usual cap 19. This tube 18 is held in position and the entire structure braced by two brackets. Ofthese brackets theupper (see Fig. 3) is composed of two duplicate members 20, each having a semicircular middle portion with radially disposed arms at its ends. The semi-circular middle portions of the bracket sections match to embrace the tube 18 and the bracket is firmly yet adjustably fastened to the tube bya screw 21 or other fastening. The arms of the bracket sections op ose each other in pairs and receive the tu bes 12 and 12* between them. These arms are pressed against the tubes by screws 22 ,orother fastenings. It will thus be seen that the arms of the bracket sections clamp the tubes 12 and 12" while attachment of the bracket to the tube 18 is by means of direct contact of the screw 21 therewith. This secures firm and easy adjustment of the parts and avoids the expense of accurately constructed parts.
The lower bracket (see Fig. 4) is composed of two sections 20 similar to the sections 20 and having screws 21 and 22 similar to the parts 21 and 22 before described. From each of the bracket sections 2O radial arms 23 extenddownward and ward and are fastened by screws 24 or u like to an ornamental shade crown 25. These screws 24 serve also to support the shade 29 by engagement with the, usual flanged top thereof.
