Description

,596. PATENTED DEC. 3, 1907 H. WARSHILSKY. BOTTLE WASHER BRUSH.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 5, 1907' Men s ra'rns HARRY wARsni'LsnY, or CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOB TO E. GOLDMAN & CQMI-ANY, or

' CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A oonronArroNor ILLINOIS.
BOTTLE WASH'ER BRUSH;
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRYWARsmLsKY, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bottle-VVasher Brushes, of which the following is a specificaprovide a novel construction of brush-device which is adapted, more particularly, for
scouring the interior of a bottle-bottom of irregular shape, .such as a champagne-bottle, although my improved brush is also adapted for use in scouring other forms of bottles, because of the large number of bristles which the construction bf theferrule enables to be drawn into it, whereby it is rendered a Very efiective inside bottom-brush for bottles of all kinds.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 shows my improved brush-device by a View in elevation B 1g. 2 shows the same by anene larged view in vertical 86013011811 elevation,
- the section being taken at the line 2 on Fig. 3
and viewed in the direction of the arrow, and Fig. 8, a section taken at the line 3 on Fig. 1, Viewed in the direction of the arrow, and enlarged.
The brush-head shown at 4, formed pref erably of brass, is on the end of a ferrule 5, of the same metal, internally threaded at its lower end to adapt it to screw .on the end of its carrying-stem (not shown) in a bottlewashing machine. While it is practicable to form the'head and ferrule integral with each other, it is more desirable to form them as separate parts, ada ting the head to be screwed on a reduce end of the ferrule, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper end of the fer rule is solid and contains a discharge-opening 6. The head 4 is solid beyond a chamber 7 formed therein in advance of the nut ortion 8 about the base which screws on the errule, the chamber having outlets 9, 10, in the Wall of the head, which may extend in different directions todischarge accordingly in the interior of a bottle into which the brush, is introduced. A plurality of openings 11, of

which four are shown 1nthe drawings, are lormed longitudinally through the solid orti'on of the head about its center, at w ich a discharge opening 12 may be providedf' The brush-material 13 (preferably bristles) so is provided in separate bunches or tui'ts 14, each bound at its inner end to expand at its outer end and to adapt the bound end to be inserted into an opening 11 and the binding wires for the tufts are fastened together in 5 the hollow base of the head to unite them and secure them firmly in place.
Of course, as will be understood, while four of the openings ll are provided in the head,
this number may be increased or decreased where it-is desired to provide a lar er number of tufts for producing a thicker rush, or a smaller num er of tufts for. producln' a thinner brush. When the brush-materia is .worn out with use, it may be readily withdrawn from the head, on severing the wires which bind the inner ends of the tufts together, and new tufts may be inserted in their place and fastened in the head. As will also be understood, the holes 11 may ex sc tend at any suitable angles to produce de sired spreading of the tufts where each is composed of a large-number of bristles.
The rounded shape shown of the base of the head 4 is desirable, since it is thereby rendered less liable to injure a bottle-neck in being withdrawn therefrom.
Where the head and ferrule are formed, as referred in se arate arts the head since it is a com arativel 'inex )ensive art ina i i be discarded with. the worn out brush to be supplanted onthe ferrule with a new head equipped with the bristles, therebyenabling the Ierrule to be a permanent part of the machine. reservoir for the cleansing water and the outlets from this chamber serve to direct the water against all parts of the interior walls of bottom thereof.
The shape of the brush produced by the peculiar connection of the brush-material scour such regular bottoms of the bottles. The central opening 12in the head supplements the openings 11 in supplying the cleansing water to, the brush-materiai.
The chamber in the head forms a. as
5 What I claim asfnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A brush-device for bottle-washing inachines, com I'lSlIlg, in combination, 8 ferrule adapted to e connected at one end with its carrying-stem on a bottle-Washing machine I and having a reduced threaded section on its opposite end, a brush-head having its base formed with a nut ortion at which it screws on said reduced errule-section, said' head containing longitudinal o enings inclined to its axis, and tufts of. brus -material confined in said openings to extend spreadingly from the head and fastened together at their inner ends. t I 2. A b0ttlewasher brush-device comprismg, m combination, a ferrule having a solid externally threaded end-portion containing a discharge-opening, a head having a nut-portion on one end at which it is screwed u on said threaded ferrule, and provided With onv 0 arge-opening in the solid portion of said head.
