JOHN HOWARD MCCULLOCH, OF NEWVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
INHALER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 8, 1907.
Application filed May 14, 1906. Serial No. 316,806.
To all -whom "it may concern:
13e it known that I, JOHN HOWARD MeOULLoeH, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Newville, in the county of Cumberland, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Inhalers, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to an improvement in that class of instruments known as inhalers. The object is to provide a simple device which can be readily carried in the vest pocket or which can be readily taken to pieces.
i The invention consists in an.inhaler constructed as set forth in the accompanying drawings and referred to in the appended claims.
In the drawing, the figure represents a front view of an inhaler partly in section, the same being constructed in accordance with my invention.
In these drawings, A represents a base or reservoir section adapted to contain the medicament and having a downwardly extending screw-threaded neck to receive an end cap B. The reservoir A has two upwardly extending parallel nasal tubes b, enlarged at their upper ends to form necks with openings which may be adapted to receive Stoppers. These nasal tubes are preferably composed of two sections, namely the short tube b, which forms a part of the base or reservoir A, and an upper part b2, the two tubes being joined together by rubber sleeve c. This islan advantage in that it makes the nasal tubes as a whole flexible and they are less liable to break when the instrument is put in the pocket or packed away. Furthermore, it readily conforms to any position in which it is desired to use it. Projecting upwardly from the upper edge of the reservoir A and parallel with the nasal tubes is the short neck d having an enlarged head over which is adapted to iit a flexible tube made preferably of rubber indicated at D, this forming the mouth piece. The neck opens into the reservoir and is adapted to receive a stopper e, so that the opening may be closed when desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1, The herein described inhaler, comprising a reservoir portion having three short parallel tubes projecting,r therefrom, rubber sleeves surrounding the outer tubes and projecting beyond the same and nasal tubes secured in said rubber sleeves, said central neck being also formed to receive the end of a flexible tube for the mouth-piece, substantially as described. n

The herein described inhalery comprising a reservoir portion having removable nasal tubes, flexible sleeves connecting the nasal tubes with the reservoir portion and a mouth-piece also secured to the reservoir, said reservoir being provided with an externally screw-threaded lower neck and a screw cap fitting thereon, substantially as described. 4
