Description
PATENTED SEPT. 24, 1907.
W. SGHMITZ. REGULATING GAS BURNER.
APPLICATION FILED PS3. 5. 1907- fi fa 3 6 1.. J a m. m 5 n V TII-IIOIIIS PITIIS co., umsmnarun, n. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RE GULATING GAS-BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 24, 1907.
Application filed February 5, 1907. Serial No. 355,796.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILHELM SoHMrrz, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of No. 33-34 Valenvtinskamp, Hamburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Regulating Gas-Burners, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention deals with a device for the regulation of gas-burners.
The opening through which the gas enters is regulated by a need1e-valve,- and the invention consisting therein is that the latter is triangular in shape, crosssection-wise.
The accompanying drawing represents a form of construction of the invention.
Figure 1, a side view of the device. Fig. 2, a longitudinal section. Fig. 3, a view of the need1e-valve, on an enlarged scale. Fig. 4, the valve in connection with a gas-burner.
The device consists of two parts a and b which are screwed one into the other. The ingoing part a has a bottom 0 in which four or more holes are bored, and in the middle and the lower side of the same a conical pointed and triangular shaped pin e is fastened. The
part b is also provided with a bottom f, in the middle of which is a bore-hole opening 9 which will be narrowed and widened by the triangular pin 2 according to the said pin being moved up and down by turning of the part a. As soon as the device is adjusted, the parts a and b can be fixed by the binding screw i, which prevents the inner part a from unscrewing itself from part b, and the arm h attached to part 6 holds the part a from releasing itself from the lower one.
According to this invention the regulating opening g can never be closed completely.
I claim:
In a regulating gas burner, the combination of a base part having an internal threaded chamber and carrying at one end a triangular needle valve around the base of which are gas passages opening from said chamber, a second part screwing upon said base part and having an opening into which the needle valve projects, a set screw for holding said part in adjusted position, and a separate device for preventing the separation of the two parts above mentioned, substantially as described.
