To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that l, MoNrnGUn S'r-tNLEy NAPlliIl, engineer, a subject of the King of Great; Britain and Ireland, residing at Acton Vale, London, W., England, have invented eel-Lair new and useful linprovennmts in and Relating to (.urrent-Distrihuters ior Sparking Devices, oi which the i'o'llmving is a specification.
The invention relates to electrical ignition nppz ior use with petrol motors and the like and has ior its object to provide etiicient means in: enabling more than one cylinder to be served from a single induction coil.
The invention eonsi s in the combination oi it high tension (llllllllliOl' with a low tension interrupter, the shai'ts on which the two elements are mounted he geared together.
The invention further consists of the structural details of such a device to be hereinafter described and includes means whereby the sparks in the cylinders can be accelerated or retarded.

Where more than about four cylinders have to be served, the distributor above described is preferably modified so as to avoid a too close proximity of the high tension contacts In carrying this modification into effect according to one form as shown in Figs. 6 and 7 the intermediate contact pieces, 5, described above as mounted on the adjustable sleeve, 7, are in the modified form divided into two sets, 5, an'd 5*, arranged on the carrier, 6, in a staggered or zigzag manner, each set being thus respectively in one of two parallel planes at right angles to the axis of the distributer spindle, so that although in an end "iew as seen in Fig. 7, the center lines of these contact pieces are separated by arcs of only 60, nevertheless their actual distances apart may be readily made sufficiently great to safeguard against short'circuits. The radial contact arm, s, mounted on the spindle is made of suilicient length, as shown in Fig. (i, to reach the more distant set ofcontacts, 5*. The arrangement of the interrupter in this modified form'of the invention is the same as that already de-.
scribed above, with the exception that the interrupter, c, is replaced by a si milar one adapted to make and break the current six times per revolution instead of only four times.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an electrical ignition device, the c:.mibinaf.ion or two rotatable shafts; a casing through a wall of which said shafts pass; means disposed without said casing, for gearing together said shafts and disposed within said casing an interrupting device operated by one of said shafts and acting to make and break the low tension circuit of an induction coil; a distributing device operated by the other of said shafts and comprising a rotatable contact piece (re-actingwith a plurality of fixed contact pieces to distribute the induced high tension eurrent to the required sparking points; means for timing the sparks, said means including adjustable sleeve elements co-uxiai respectively with said interrupter and distributor shafts and par ing' through said casing wall; segmental spur wheels disposed without said casing and gearing together said sleevcciements together with intermediate contact pieces disposed within said casing and carried by the sleeve element co-uxizii with said distributor shaft, said intermediate contact pieces being equal in number to said fixed contact pieces an'd in slidable contact therewith.
3. In an electrical ignition device, the combinationv of two rotatable shafts geared together; an interrupting, device operated by one of said shafts and acting to make and break the low tension circuit of an induction coiiy'a distributing device operated by the other of said shafts and comprising a rotatablecontzict piece co-aeting with a plurality of fixed contact pieces to distribute the induced high tension current to the required sparkiuig; points; means for timing the sparks, said means including adjustable elements co-axiai respectively with said interrupter and distributor shafts, the element co-axiai with said distributor shaft carrying a contact piece in siidable contact with a fixed contact piece.
