IMPROVED BRAKE-BLOCK I 'OR RAILWAY-CARS.
To all whom it 'may conce/rat:
Be it known that' I, W. WILMORE, of Scranton, in the county of Luzerne, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brake-Block for Railroad-Cars; and do hereby declare that the following is a i'ull,'elear, and exact description thereof, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, forming part of this specieation- Figure l represents a side view, and
Figure 2, a front View of my invention.
In the annexed drawings, A represents the shoe of the brake,- fastened, by means of the teuon B and mortise- C, to the bloek I), at the'top of which latter a hook, E, is attached to a pin. This hook Eis to be fastened to the truck of the car.
Above the'joint Where the block D and shoe A are fastened are two small bearings, G, and below the same joint is a larger one, H. v
The block D is attached to the brake-arm with the bolt F, which -is the centre of the block.
W'hen the brake is applied, the block D, by means 'of the hearings G and H, presses and support-s the shoe Ato the Wheel of the car.
I am aware that a brake-block, composed of a curved shoe, and operated by means of a link and angular plate, `is known. v
What I claim, is-
The combination of the shoe A and its central flange B with the block D, when said block has projections lH and G, all as herein shown amlllescribed In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand and' seal, this 7 th day of March, 1868.
