Description

PATENTED SEPT. 10, 1907.
E. D. GRBELEY. EAVBS THOUGH HANGER.
APPLICATION FILED MAR-19. 1907;
W/T/VESSES: fi AWE Tole,
ELIZA D. GREELEY, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
EAVES-TROUGI-I HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 10, 1907.
Application filed March 19, 1907. Serial No. 863,195.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZA D. GREELEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky have invented a new and useful Eaves-Trough Hanger, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to eaves trough hangers and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts as hereinafter shown and described.
The object oi the invention is to provide a hanger for eaves troughs which is simple in construction and oi a durable nature.
The hanger is so constructed that the trough may be readily detached therefrom and a new one substituted without injury to the wall or root of the building.
In the accompanying drawingz-Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a roof with the hanger attached thereto Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same showing the hanger in elevation, and Fig 3 is a perspective view of a rod and tubes used with the hanger.
The hanger comprises the wire 1 which is provided at its ends with the eyes 2, 2 and at its middle with the loop 3. The said wire is twisted upon itself between the ends and the said loop. The said eyes are adapted to receive nails or screws whereby the wire is attached to the sheeting or root and the wire is bent at a point between the eyes 2 and the loop 3 into portions which extend at an angle to each other in order that the loop 3 may be vertically disposed when the wire is secured to an inclined rooi. The trough 4 is of usual construction and is provided in its sides with the opposite perforations 5. The rod 6 is provided at one end with the head or loop 7 and extends transversely across the trough t and passes through the perforations 5 thereof. The tubes 8 are located upon the rod 6 and bear at their outer ends against the inner sides of the trough 4 and at their inner ends against the opposite sides of the loop 3. The said tubes are of the same length and consequently hold the loop 3 directly over the center oi the trough.
It will be observed that a hanger is provided which supports the trough from a point directly over its middle and that the trough may be positioned more or less under the caves of the building as conditions may require.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In combination with an eaves trough, a hanger ,lTllGl'GfOl' comprising a wire having a loop, a rod extending trans versely across the trough and passing through said loop. tubes of equal length located upon the end portions of the rod and beingfree to rotate thereon said tubes hearing at their outer ends against the inner sides 01' the trough and at the inner ends against the opposite sides of the loop and holding the loop over the center of the trough In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, have hereto ailixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
