To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, KRAUTH I-I. CnEssMAN, a citi- Zen oi the United States, residing at Naper, in the county o' Boyd and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Feed-Bags, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to feed bags of the type known as nose bags, and has for its objects to produce a comparatively simple, inexpensive device of this character having a pair of feed receiving compartments from which the material will be gradually fed to the bag, one wherein the quantity of material to be fed to the bag may be regulated, thus to prevent waste oi feed and obviate unduly rapid feeding on the part ol the animal, and one which provides for the convenient employment of two distinct classes oi material in feeding the animal.

With these and other objects in view, the invention comprises the novel features of construction and combination oi parts more iully hereinafter described.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a central, vertical section through a feed bag embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, showing the feed receiving compartments open. Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. I.

Referring to the drawings, l designates a feed bag of usual form and material having a solid bottom 2 and provided at a point adjacent its bottom with ventilator openings 3, there being attached to the bag a strap 'or straps 4 by means oi which the device may be suspended from the head of an animal.

In accordance with my invention, I sew or otherwise attach within the bag l and preferably at opposite points a pair of pockets 5 constituting feed receiving compartments and having normally open lower ends 6 terminated short of the bottom of the bag and through which the material is discharged into the latter, while attached to the upper end of the bag and `for closing the upper ends of the pockets 5 are flaps or closures 7 having eyelets 8 adapted to snap over buttons or studs 9 for fastening the flaps in closed condition, there being provided at the lower discharge end of each pocket apair of transversely spaced eyelets l0 arranged to snap over corresponding studs il attached to the bag, whereby the size of the discharge opening may be regulated.

In practice, the pockets are filled with the material to be fed to the animal and the flaps 7 closed, after which the bag is suspended as usual on the animalls head by means of the strap 4. The material is discharged through the lower open ends G of the pockets into the bottom of the bag, where it will be accessible to the animal, it being noted in this connection that the discharge of the material will be gradual, whereby rapid eating on the part of the animal is prevented and wasting of the material obviated.

Furthermore, it will be seen that owing to the provision of the eyelets 10 and buttons Il., the sizes of the lower discharge ends oi the pockets may be regulated, thus to regulate the How of the material into the bag, and further, that by providing a pair of the pockets two distinct classes of material, such, for instance, as corn and oats, may be arranged in the bag for feeding the animal.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

i. A feed bag having a feed receiving pocket provided with a discharge opening through which material is delivered into the bag, a pair of transversely spaced eyelets provided on the pocket, buttons fixed on the bag for e11- gagelnent with the eyelets to regulate the size 01 the discharge opening, and means for closing the upper end 01 the pocket.

2. A feed bag having a feed-receiving pocket provided at its lower end with a discharge opening through which material is delivered into the bag, a pair of transversely spaced engaging members attached to the bag, a pair ol corresponding engaging members provided at the lower end oi the pocket for engagement with the first named members to vary the size of the discharge opening, and moans for closing the upper end of the pocket.
