Description

No. 860,811. I PATENTED JULY 23, 1907. A. J. KROWBR.
WEATHER FRONT FOR AUTOMOBILES.
APPLICATION FILED OUT. 15,-1906.
UNITED STATES PriEENT OFFICE.
ALFRED J. KROWER, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
I WEATHER-FRONT FOR AUTOMOBILES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 23, 1907.
Application filed October 15, 1906.- Serial No. 339,105.
My invention relates to an improvement in a flexible transparent weather front for an automobile, and its novelty will be fully understood from the following description and claims when taken in connection with the annexed drawings, and the objects of my inventionare' to provide a flexible and transparent protector or weather front for automobiles or other vehicles, also launches or pleasure boats. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of motor carriage, with a flexible transparent front or protector in position. Fig. 2 is a view of Weather front or protector, when in a rolled position. Fig. 3 is a front view. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 'a and 1).
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
In the drawings, "1 represents a sheet of transparent celluloid, held in position by means of upright bars 2which rest in sockets 3.3 being lower end of bars.
4 are strips made of any desired material.
5 are lower strips.
6 are rivets 0r fastenings which may be of any construction desired.
I do not confine myself to the rectangular shaped front or screen shown in the drawings, as they may be of any desired shape.
In practice my weather front or protector is rolled in the manner shown in Fig. 2 and placed in a suitable receptacle on an automobile, vehicle or vessel and when desired to be used is readily adjusted in the manner shown in Fig. 1.
I am aware that glass has been used as a weather front for automobiles, but my invention is preferable,
being not only transparent, but flexible.
' Having described my invention and the manner in which the same is or maybe carried into operation, would say, that I do not limit myself to the precise details shown in illustration, as the same may be varied to some extent, but,
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,
'lhe herein described weather front for an automobile, buggy. onother vehicle, or boats provided with sheets of celluloid held in position by means of uprights or stanchions, the latter resting in sockets, and said uprights or stanchions, being removable from their sockets, and the sheets of celluloid rolled up. substantially as shown and described and for the purpose set forth.
in testimony whereof I nflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALFRED .l. Kl'tOWl-JR.
