WINDOW-PANE FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all iohom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JnMns I-I. FINEFROCK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hibbetts, in the county of Carroll, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and I able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. V
This invention has relation to means for securing Window panes in placeV in sashes without the use of putty.
The nature of the invention embodies triangularly shaped strips of light metal suited to take the place of putty along the margins of the glass, strips of rubber or other material suited to the purpose, being interposed between the said strips and the sash to keep out rain and other elements of inclement weather peculiar provision being made for securing and adjusting the fastening strips to the sash.
The invention is clearly portrayed in the annexed drawings, forming a part of this specification, in view of which the improvements will rst be described with respect to their construction and mode of operation an then be pointed out in the subjoined claims.
Of the said drawings z-Figure 1 is a front view of a portion of a window sash having the pane fastened therein in accordancewith my improvements. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken in the plane of an attaching screw.
Similar numerals of reference designate similar parts or features as the case may be wherever they occur.
In the drawings 10 designates the sash of a window that will be channeled or rabbeted around the margin 11 of its openings for the reception of panes or lights, 12, which are set in place in the usual manner.
13 designates strips of aluminium or other suitable metal, of triangular form in cross-section which strips are set in place with one face or edge against the margin of the glass, another against the side of the frame, and the third facing outward. At the outer edge of the face of the strip bearing against the frame there are lugs 14 provided with slots 15 through which the shanks of the screws 16 pass whereby the strips are secured to the sash frame and are made to hold the pane in place in the frame. The openings 15 in the lugs 14. for the passage of the screws 16 are made in the form of slots in order that the strips may be secured as closely or rmly against the panes, as possible. A strip of rubber or similar material, 17, is interposed between the fastening strip and the sash to keep out the rain and cold.
The fastening strip may be placed in position with one face against the margin of the pane, and with the rubber strip 17 behind the latter, and upon pressing said strip hard to its seat by one hand the other may be employed in turning the screw through the slotted lug 14, fastening the strip as firmly as possible in its seat against the pane and the interposed strip of rubber.
The improvements provide for readily and securely fastening panes or lights in a sash, and for as conveniently removing or taking out the same in case of necessity.
The lugs 14 may be formed on the edge oi the fastening strip at as frequent or wide intervals as may be thought best.
What is claimed, is :H
1. As an article of manufacture the herein-described pane-fastening for windows comprising a strip of metal of triangular form in cross-section, and having lugs extending from one edge, which lugs are provided with slots for the reception of the shanks of the fastening screw therethrough.
2, The combination with pane and the sash channeled for the reception of the margin of the pane, a strip of rubber interposed between the sash and pane, and a fastening' strip triangular in cross-section seated against the outer margin of the pane and the sash, the said strip having laterally projecting and slotted lugs extending from an edge along the sash, and fastening screws in the said slotted lugs. f
