To all whom "it may concern:

Be it known that I, JosEPH A. WAsHICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement Closet- Tanks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates more particularly to a closet tank which is adapted to take the place of the ordinary tanks now in use, and to details of construction and the means for mounting or supporting the same. Its objects are to provide a closet tank which is adapted for use in warm climates and (lamp places where wood or metal would deteriorate or decay; and its further objects are to provide a sanitary tank which will not absorb water or leak, and to secure the flush pipe or other pipes in the cement in a substantial manner.

This device is shown in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a front view. of a closet tank embodying this invention, a .part being broken away to show the details of construction, and, Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same showing the supporting brackets.

As shown in the drawings, this invention comprises a tank or receptacle 3 of any desired form or shape adapted to be used for a closet tank. This receptacle is made of cement, concrete or the like and the walls thereof are provided with a layer 4 of strengthening material such as metallic screen, expanded metal, netting or the like.

The box or tank is preferably supported by means of metallic bands or strips 5 which extend across the bot- .tom and up the sides and are bent over at the top edges of the side walls. These metallic strips may be embedded entirely within the concrete as indicated at the left hand side of Fig. 2, or may be flush with the surface'as shown in Fig. 1, or lie against the surface as shown at the rearside of Fig, 2. These strips or bands may be further secured and held by means of clips or connections 6 which extend in to engage with the metallic web 4.

Inorder to support the box or tank on suitable brackets such as shown at 7, Fig. 2, the bands 5 are provided with projecting pins 8 which are adapted to engage with holes in the upper part of the bracket 7. These pins or projections may be threadedfor a nut 9 or may simply extend down through the holes of the brackets.

The flush pipe connection comprises a tube or pipe 10 having lateral flanges 11, 12 and 13. The first of the flanges engages with the top surface of the bottom of the tank, and the second flange engages with the metallic webbing and is embedded in the cement or concrete; while the third or bottom flange engages with the lower surface of the bottom of the tank and is preferably fiush therewith. The projecting end of the tube 10 is preferably tapered for a short distance and is provided with a lateral annular flange 14. The flush pipe proper 15 is adapted to be forced up over the conical end of the pipe 10, and over the annular flange 14 and to be hammered or forced in around the top of said flange to make a tight connection. If desired, solder or the like may be used as shown at 16 for further closing the joint. The siphon or other flushing device may be connected with the pipe 10 in any desired manner. The water pipe is preferably arranged to enter at the top of the tank, or if desired, it can be extended up through the bottom and connected in a manner similar to the connection which I have described for the flush pipe.

It will be noted that with this form of construction and'with the material used, a sanitary closet tank is provided which is adapted to withstandall kinds of temperature and which will last 'for an indefinite time, and, with the inside corners rounded as shown at 17, no places are left in the tank for the accumulation of sediment or filth.

Having thus described my invention which I do not wish to limit to the details of construction, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. The combination of a concrete closet tank with supporting bands and pins' projecting from said bands and adapted to engage with suitable brackets.

2. The combination of a concrete closet tank having metallic reinforcement in the walls thereof, a pipe connection having flanges engaging with said metallic reinforcement and with the upper and lower surfaces of the bottom of said tank.

3. A cement closet tank, metallic supporting bands for said tank adapted to engage with supporting brackets and a flush pipe connection having flanges engaging with the upper and lower surfaces of the bottom of said tank.
