HOSE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 2, 1907.
Application filed October 7, 1905. Serial No. 281.777
To all whom it may concern:
Be it' known that I, CHARLES L. LINDSAY, a citizen v of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county of Spokaneand State of Washington, have invented newand useful Improvements in Hose'H-olders, of which the following is a specication.
My'invention pertains to holders for hose or hose nozzles; and it contemplates the provision of an inexpensive and easily handled device adapted to stand up with a hose behind it and hold the hose in a low position for adjacent lsprinkling or4 in a higher position so as to throw astream a considerable distance, as desired. v
With the foregoing in mind, the invention `will be fully understood from the following description when the same is considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the hose holder constituting the present and preferred embodiment-of my invention. Fig. 2 is avertical central section of the holder; the same being shown with nozzles in different positions therein.
Similar'letters of reference designate corresponding parts in both views of the drawings.
My novel hose holder comprises a body which is preferably in the form ofa stiff plate A, of stamped steel, embellished in the manner shown or in any other suitable manner so as to render it ornamental in appearance. The. said plate A is' provided with legs B, and also with a plurality of apertures C, preferably of circular form as shown. These apertures C are arranged one above the other in the vertical median line of the plate, and the lower portions of their walls are preferably beveled, as indicated by a, for a purpose presently set forth. v
In the practical use of the holder itis made to stand up with the hose behind'it and thehose or hose nozzle resting in one of its apertures When the device is thus arranged it will lsupport and hold the hose, and will in turn, be supported and held against falling by the hose. If it is desired to sprinkle the portion of a lawn adjacent to the holder, the hose or the nozzle thereof is placed in the lowermost aperture C, while when it is desired to throw a stream a great distance the hose or its nozzle is placed in one of the upper apertures C. The lower portions of the walls of the apertures C are preferably beveled as before mentioned in order to direct the discharge of the hose upward, and, `at the same time, enable the hoseto better support and hold the holder against falling.
It will be gathered yfrom the foregoing that my novel hose holder is adapted to be quickly and easily placed in proper position, relative to a hose, and as readily removed therefrom; also, that the holder may be conveniently carried from place to place and is well adapted to withstand the usage to which garden appliances are ordinarily subjected.v y Having described my invention, what I claim and desire toisecure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. As an article of manufacture, a hose holder in the,A
form a stift plate having at its lowermost point, an edge arranged to rest directly on the ground, and also having an aperture at an intermediate point in its height for the passage of a hose to enable the holder Ato hold a hose above the ground and be, in turn, held by the hose against fal1ing.
2. As an article of manufacture, a hose holde'r in the form of a sti? plate having, at its lowermost point, an edge arranged to rest directly on the ground, and also having a plurality of apertures arranged one above the other in its vertical median line; each of the said apertures being fory the passage of a hose to enable the holder to hold a hose above the ground and be, in turn, held by the hose against falling.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses. l
M. A. ADAMiS, A. A. BAENETT.
