To all whom it may concern: y

Be it known that l, OLYDE W. BRENINGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Racks, ol which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to clothes-racks calculated to become a subject oi merchandise to be kept in stock and on sale in general, and for convenience in packing and shipping as well as in economy of space, when not in use, calculated to fold and double up in such a manner as to occupy the smallest possible space. AAlsolfor further usefulness the rack is provided with an ironing board to be used in conjunction therewith, and which I is attached thereto. The said ironing board also permits the use of the combined apparatus as a table or stand.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the clothes rack, with the wings raised and spread out. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same, in the same position. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the clothes rack with the wings doubled in and folded back. Fig. 4 is an end elevationof the same in the same position, and Fig. 5 is an elevation o an ironing board detached.

l provide a stand having four legs 10, with braces 1l reaching from one rear leg to the other, and from one fore leg to the other, and rods l2 reaching from each rear leg to the one in front ol it, such rods being secured at one end by a hook 13 to the leg and into an eye 14 in the other leg, for the purpose of assuring rigidity to the stand. At the top of the legs 10 and directly above the rods 12 and reaching from the rear legs to the fore legs I attach hinges 15, such hinges set just enough below the top of the legs 10 to provide a recess deep enough to receive an ironing board, and to leave the top of the ironing board 16 flush with the top ends of the legs 10. Secured to the top ends oi the rear legs 10 by hinges 22 is the rack 18 with suitable cross-rounds 19 and to each side of this rack 18 is secured by hinges 20, wings 21. These wings 21 are calculated to fold inwardly over the rack 18 when not in use and are made the right width to meet at the center of therack 18 as shown in Fig. 3, and the rack 18 and wings 21 may then be folded back as also shown in Fig. 3, when the rack is not in use, thus causing the rack to occupy only a small space as will also be shown by Fig. 4 giving the end elevation when folded. In Fig. 4 also is shown the hinges l5 folded, the board 1G being removed in order to more completely collapse and fold the apparatus for boxing, shipping or laying away. In case the apparatus is desired to be used as a stand or table without the rack 18 and wings 21, then the rack and wings are folded back as shown in Fig. 3 and the board' 1 6 left in place as shown in Fig. 2. The hinges lo are calculated to double up and the rod c011- nections l2 are calculated to release at the latch 14 when it is desired to collapse and fold the apparatus for boxing, shipping or laying away.

What I claim and desire to secure by LettersPatent isz- In a clothes-rack comprising a stand made rigid by the brace connecting the rear legs, the brace connecting the fore legs and the. rod connections from rear to front legs together' with the hinge connections from front to rear legs at the tops thereof set down Ifrom the tops of such legs sucient to receive an ironing board that will be flush with the tops of such legs, the rack secured by hinges to tops of rear legs and wings secured to sides of rack by hinges, such wings calculated to fold in over the surface of the rack and the rack calculated to fold down over the back 0f the rear legs of the stand, the rod connections between the front and rear legs calculated to disengage at one end thereof and the Vhinges at the top of the legs and reaching from front to rear legs calculated to double up in folding the apparatus, substantially as set forth.
