To all whom it may concern: l
Be it known that we, EDGAR LOUIS STREAM and WILLIAM J GIBBENS, citizens of the United States,A residing at N ewOrlean's, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new anduseful Imrovements in Oil-Burners; and we do herey declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention; such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use lthe same. I Our invention relates to im rovements in oil burners of that .type in W ich the oil is I5 atomized and is blown into the furnace by the @is vica of one or more jets of steam.
Our invention will be understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, which shows theV burner in central vertical` section with the steam pipes in elevation.

In an-oil burnen'thecombinatiOn with afinixing chamber providedhwith an enlarged roo mixing portion and a tapered delivery portion, of a curved conical plug closing the enlarged end of the chamber, a curved pipe having' its outlet in front of said plug and provided with a conica-l base, an oil pipe provided With a conical nozzle opening into said base and spaced therefrom, a slotted i'iange surrounding said oil pipe at the base of said nozzle, and means for forcing steam under pressure through said slotted flange, substantially described.
2. In an oil burner, the combination with a mixing chamber provided With an enlarged mixing portion and a tapered delivery portion, of a curved conical plug closing the enlarged end of the chamber, a curved pipe vhaving its outlet in front ofV said plug and provided with a conical base, an oil pipe provided With a conical nozzle opening into said base and spaced therefrom, a sleeve engagingv said oil ipe and spaced therefrom to form an ann ar chamber, a slotted flange or ring partly closing said annular chamber at the base of said nozzle, and means for Fforcing steam under pressure into said annular chamber, substantially as described.

In an oil burner, the combination with a mixing chamber provided with an enlarged mixing portion and a tapered delivery portion, of a curved perforated conical plug closing the enlarged end of the chamber, means for blowing steam through the perforations in said. conical body, a curved pipe having its outlet in front of said plug and provided with a conical base, an oil pipe provided with a conical nozzle opening into said base and spaced therefrom, a slotted flange surrounding said oil pipe at the base of said nozzle, and means'for forcing steam under pressure through saidslotted flange, substantially as described.

In an oil burner, the combination with a mixing chamber provided with an enlarged' mixing portion and a tapered delivery portion, of a curved perforated conical plug closing the enlarged end of the chamber, means for blowing steam through the pcrforations in said conical body, a curved pipe having its outlet in front of said lug and provided with a conicalv base, an oilppipe provided with a conical nozzle opening into said base and spaced therefrom, a sleeve engaging said oil- )ipe and spaced. therefrom to form an annular chan'iber, a slotted flange or `ring partly closing said annular chamber at the base of said nhzzle, and means for forcing steam under pressure into said annular chamber, substantially as described.
5. ln an oil burner, the combination. with a n'lixing chamber provided with an enlarged mixing portion and a tapered delivery portion, of a curved conical plug closing the enlarged end of the chamber, the said plug being provided with perforations grouped around its axis, means for forcing steam through said perforations, a curved pipe havin its outlet in front' of said plug and proviced with a conical base, an oil pipe provided with a conical nozzle opening into said ing provided with perforations, a curved pipe havinrr itsoutlet in front of said plug and p rovic ed with a conical base, an oil pipe provided With a conical nozzle opening into said base and spaced therefrom, a sleeve engaging said oil pipe and spaced therefrom to form an annular chamber, a slotted fiange or ring partly closing said annular chamber at the base of said nozzle, and a steam pipe having two separately controlled branches for forcing steam under pressure into said annular chamber and also through said perforations in said plug when desired, substantially as described.
