Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I, EMIL VERNER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Drawing-Board, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of an improvement in a rotatable drawing board and a square adapted to coact therewith, with means for carrying the same and moving it true in parallel lines over said board.
It also consists of novel means for supplying various im lements and instruments over the board an of other details of construction as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims. l
Figure 1 represents a top or plan view of a drawing board embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal vertical section on line aci-a: Fig. l. Referring to the drawings: A designates a rotatable drawing board, which by means of the pivot B, depending therefrom, is mounted on the base O, which is preferably construeted of metal and for purpose oflightness is of skeleton form.

Risin from the side of the base C is the index I the same pointing to either of the graduations L on the periphery of the board A so that the board may be rotated with precision relatively to the number of degrees required.
M. designates a scale which is connected with the base of the device, and extending below the limb G of the square and parallel with the same, by which provision the square may be moved with precision relatively to the graduations of said scale.
Connected with the base of the device is the brake N, which is pivoted at one end to said base, and has a handle P at the other end, the intermediate portion having a bevel face as at Q as shown in the plan view, Fig. l, and in the section, Fig. 3, it being noticed that said brake is adapted to be passed under the board A, and advanced against the underside thereof, whereby said bevel face wedges with said underside and the brake frictionally engages with the board, thus holding the latter during service. When the brake is thrown back, it leaves and releases the board, whereby the latter may be further rotated as desired.
Rising from the base O is the post R, which is removably held in a boss S thereon by the screw T. Mounted on the top of said post is one end of the resilient arm U, which is adjustably secured thereto by the screw U', the opposite end of said arm carrying the type or stamp V which is thus supported over the paper on the board, whereby by depressing said arm an impression or imprint of the stamp may be made on said paper and repeated so that as the board is rotated, the imprint may be in circular form on the paper. The post R, has also in its upper end, the opening R to receive the arm WV which is ada ted to carry a lead pencil or other mar rer V, said arm having a screw WV? for clamping said pencil or marker in position. The screw U is adapted to secure the arm I on said post bar. IVhen the pencil is removed, it may be substituted by the foot X, for stepping one limb of a pair of dividers thereon, see Fig. 7, or by the piercer Y, see Fig. S. The stam Vis adjustably held on the resilient arm i by means of the head Z which is connected with said arm by means of the screw Z and nut Z2, as shown in Fig. 6.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A rotatable drawing board, a s nare adapted to have a limb thereover, a scale ived relatively to said board and'disposed beyond the periphery of said board and independent of the latter, and pivoted parallel means mounted outside of the periphery of said board for carrying said square and moving said limb in directions parallel with the face of the board and with said scale, said scale being between the pivots of said parallel means and the periphery of the board.
2. A rotatable drawing board, a square adapted to have a limb vthereover, a scale xed relatively to said board and disposed beyond the periphery of said board and independent of the latter, and pivoted parallel means mounted outside of the periphery of said board for carrying said square and moving said limb in directions parallel with the face of the board and with said scale, said scale being between the pivots of said parallel means and the periphery of the board and in a plane below said means.
3. A rotatable drawing board, a base having extensions beyond the periphery of the board, arms rising from said base, parallel bars pivotally mounted on said arms, and a T-square having one limb pivotally connected with said parallel bars, the other limb being mounted to move over said board.
4. A rotatable drawing board, a base having extensions beyond the periphery of the board, arms rising from said base, parallel bars pivotally mounted on said arms, a T- square having one limb pivotally connected with said parallel bars, the other limb being mounted to move over said board, and a scale fxedly mounted with relation to the board, outside. the periphery thereof and parallel to which the pivoted limb of the square is at all times movable.
5. In a drawing board, a rotatable board and a pivot-ally mounted brake lever movable beneath the under face of said board near its periphery to engage the same and prevent rotation thereof.
6. In a drawing board, a rotatable board and a pivotally mounted brake lever movable beneath the under face of said board near its periphery to engage the same and prevent rotation thereof, said brake having an inclined face whereby it forms a wedge.
7. A rotatable `drawing board, a support therefor having an extension beyond its periphery and a brake pivotally supported on said extension and movable beneath the lower face of said board to control the speed of rotation and to check the same.
8. A rotatable drawing board, an impression device disposed over said board, a resilient carrier for said `impression device, mounted outside the periphery of said board substantially parallel therewith, permitting the same to be lowered to theboard and then to be automatically raised therefrom, and means for adjustably holding said impression device on the free end of said carrier.
9. In a drawing board, a pivotal squarecarrying member a base having outward extensions, and arms rising therefrom and forming pivotal supports outside the periphery of the board for the pivotal square-carrying member.
10. In a drawing board, a pivotal squarecarrying member, a square carried thereby, a base having outward extensions, arms rising therefrom and forming pivotal supports outside the periphery of the board for the pivotal square-carrying member, and a scale supported by said base beneath one limb of the square.
l1. ln a drawing board, a pivotal squarecarrying member, a square carried thereby, a base having outward extensions, arms rising therefrom and forming pivotal supports for the pivotal square-carrying member, a scale supported by said base beneath one limb of the square, a rotatable drawing board, and a brake therefor mounted on said base beneath said scale and movable beneath said board.
