UNITED sTArEs PATENT oEErcE.
PAUL KRAEMER, OF JERSEY CITY, NEIV JERSEY.
SHIRT.
To rtl/'L whom, it muy concer-n.-
Beit known that I, PAUL KRAEMER, a citi- Zen of the United. States, residing at Jersey City, Hudson county, State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shirts, of which the following is a specification. Y
This invention relates to a shirt of the class which is provided with an open bosom, the two halves of which are adapted to overlap and to be buttoned together. Tith this class of shirts, a diliculty exists in that the shoe or base of the button, when inserted into the lower bosom section, is practically inaccessible to the hand, so that the operation of buttoning the shirt is rendered dillicult. By my invention this objection is overcome, the shoe of the button being readily accessible, so that the buttoning operation is greatly facilitated, and soiling of the shirt front during such operation is avoided.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a front view of part'olc a shirt embodying my invention and showing the shirt closed; Eig. 2 a similar view, showing the shirt open; F ig. 3 an enlarged cross section on line 3w3, E ig. 2.
The section 5 of a divided shirt bosom is adapted to partly overlap section 6, to which it may be buttoned, as usual. 'lo the overlapped inner end of section 6, is secured from top to bottom a textile 'fly or strip 7 which is completely covered and concealed by the overlapping end of section 5, when the shirt is closed. Strip 7 is provided with button holes S adapted to register with corresponding button holes 9 of section 5. Between the button holes S, the outer edge of strip 7 is secured to section 6, b y a simious seam 10, which passes across the button holes at a distance above and below the same, as at l1, and thence back of the button holes along the inner edge of the strip, as at 12.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February '7, 1907. Serial No. 356,170.
Patented June 11, 1907.
i In this way there is formed between strip 7 and section 6,- at each button hole, an out'- wardly opening pocket 13, while the strip is sewed down at its outer edge between its pockets.
F ly 7 is made integral with the linen facing 14 of the shirt and is formed by extending the facing 14 beyond the lining 15 and doubling the extension thus obtained upon the facing. 'lhe free or inner end of the ily is folded around the lining and its edge is secured to the lower side of the lining by seam 12 and by an additional seam 16.
In use, the button 21. is inserted with its shoe into pocket 1S, so as to project with its head out of button hole 8. ,y In buttoning the shirt, a Vfinger may be introduced into the pocket to grasp the button at its base, and thereby direct its head into engagement with button hole 9 of the overlapping section 5. In this way the manipulation of buttoning the shirt is greatly facilitated, and soiling of the bosom during the buttoning operation is prevented.
I claim:
1. In a shirt, a vfirst bosom-section composed of a lining, a facing and a doubled perforated fly integral with the facing, combined with a second perforated` bosom section adapted to overlap the ily, substantially as specified.
.Z. In a shirt, a first besoin-section composed of a lining, a facing and a doubled perforated fly integral with the facing and 'folded around the lining, combined with a second perforated bosom-section adapted to overlap the fly, substantially as specified.
' Signed by me at New York city, (Manhattan,) N. Y., this 6th day of February, 1907.
PAUL K RAEME l.
IVitnesses:
