' chines; and I do hereby declare that the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the an nexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
The present invention has reference to that class of mop wringing machines comprising a suitable box in which the mop is placed and a presser-board operated by a lever mechanism by which means the mop by-compression is relieved of themoisture therein, and the object of the invention is to materially simplify the construction of this class of machines whereby increased eifectiveness is obtained and a greater pressure brought upon the mop through a simple arrangement of lever mechanism connecting with the presserboard.
The invention consists in a mop wringing machine constructed substantially as shown in the drawings and hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a mop wringing machine constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a transverse sectional elevation. Fig. 3 a detail view in perspective of a portion of the presser board and the end of the lever which connects therewith.
In the accompanying drawings the box in which the mop is placed to relieve the same of moisture, consists of the two sides A, B and the stationary side 0, the movable presser-board D forming one side of the box. The sides A and B are preferably perforated for the escape of the moisture from the mop and are detachably connected with each other so that the sides may be separated when desired for packing and transporting or for other purposes. The sides A B have supporting legs (1 extending therefrom which are connected near their lower ends by a cross-piece'or brace b to which is connected a bearing arm 0. The cross-brace b is detachably connected to the legs a, the ends of the brace entering slots in the legs and held in position by a suitable key (I, and the bearing arm 0 is held to the cross brace by a keyf or by any other suitable means whereby the cross brace and bearing may be separated from each other when desired. The bottom E of the box is also removable, the same having tongues g projecting from its ends and entering elongated slots in the sides of the box so that the sides may be readily sepa rated. brackets h, two of which project from each of the sides A B, the side C slipping down between them and readily removed therefrom when desired.
The presser-board D is connected to a de-' pending arm F which is pivoted at its lower end to the bearing arm a and extends up through a slot at in the bottom E to allow it to move back and forth in the process of wringing the mop. The resser-board D has bearing brackets j and to these brackets are pivoted one end of link-levers G, the ends of the levers having inwardly projecting pivotpins k which engage holes Z in the brackets, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. The opposite ends of the link-levers G are pivotally connected to cranks q of a crank-bar H, said crank-bar in turn being pivotally connected to curved arms I which project up from the sides A B of the box.
An operating hand-lever J connects with the crank-bar and with one of the link-levers in the following manner the .pin m of the crank-bar H is of suflicient length to extend some distance beyond the curved arm I so that the hand-lever J can be attached thereto by me ans of the key n so that by turning the hand-lever the crank-bar will be operated. The pin 0 of one of the cranks q is of suflicient length to connect the end of the lever J thereto by means of a staple or clip 1) so that by the operation of the lever through its connections as above described, an increased leverage upon the presser-board is obtained. A suitable stop 1" projecting from one of the sides of the box may be provided to limit the action of the operating hand lever and hooks 8 project from the back of the machine to engage a tub or vessel containing the water. The sides A and B and the back or side C are held together by the cross brace b and the crank bar H, and by the bottom E with its tongues engaged in the slots in the sides A and B, and the keys in the same outside of the sides.

brace connecting said legs, a bearing arm on said brace, an arm pivoted to said bearing arm and connected With the presser board a crank bar having crank arms mounted in the upper end'sof said curved arms, links disposed above the top of said back and pivotally connected to the presser board, arms depending from said crank, bar and pivotally connected to said links, an operating lever pivotally mounted on one of said curved arms above the top of the back and connected to the extended end of one of the pivots joining the link levers and depending arms of the crank bar, and a stop projecting upwardly from one of the sides in the path of said operating lever.
