vATTACHMENT FOR VESSELS, 61.0. l
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed August '7, 1906. Serial No. 329,624.
Patented May 28, 1907.
T0 a/ZZ whom it may con/cern:
Be it known that I, PAsoHAL H. NULL, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Attachment for Vessels, &c., of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists of a simple attachment designed particularly to be usedin connection with galvanized iron, Zinc, or simple tubs, vats, pots, or vessels for the protection of the body of the vessel, should a wringer or any similar device be clamped or otherwise secured thereto.
The attachment consists of spaced blocks or members of rubber, leather or similar ma. terial, connectin means between the same, a suitable means or attaching the device to the vessel so that the blocks and members aforesaid will receive the pressure of clamps or similar attaching means by which a wringer or like machine may be secured to said vessel. l
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the followin description and indicated in all the views o the drawings by the same reference characters. l
In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of the attachment comprising the invention. Fig. 2 is a tcp plan view. Fi 3 is a vertical section through one of the bf cks or end members, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the invention applied.
In the drawings the numeral 1 indicates the end members or blocks of the attachment adapted, as shown in Fig. 4, to abut with the outside of the vessel to which the attachment is applied, and made of such material that when pressure is received thereupon, said blocks or members will not injure the surface of the vessel or damage it in any way. The end members 1 are connected by the plates 2 and 3, the latter having a longitudinal slot as shown at 6 to receive the fastening 5 projecting from the plate 2 and having a suitable head. The member 5 together with the slot 6 constitutes `a pin and slot connection between the plates 2 and 3 admitting of adjustment of therend members 1 relatively to one another for obvious purposes. `The plates 2 and 3 are made of light metal and are flexible so that they may be bent to conform with the contour of the sides of a vessel to which the invention may be applied.
Each of the end members is provided with a hook 4 adapted to engage the top portion of a vessel, whereby the attachment may be readily supported on the vessel when in use. The hooks 4 are preferably formed at the up per ends ofplates which are attached to the end members 1 by fastening members 7 which pass through the blocks or members 1, the ends of the plates 2 and 3, and the hooks 4. An end of each plate 2 and 3 together with the body of one of the hooks 4 is received within the body portion of each member 1, and the latter may be made of any suitable material.
The invention is very simple in construction and may be used with considerable advantage in a manner which will be readily appreciated.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new is:
An attachment for vessels consisting of end members, a plate attached to each of said members, a pin and slot connection between the plates aforesaid permitting of adjustment of the end members relatively to one another, suspending hooks extendin upwardly from the end members, the boy of one of the said hooks together with an end portion of one of the plates being received in the body of each end member, and fastening means passing through the end members, the hooks, and the ends of the plates, securing said parts together in the manner described.
Signed, sealed and delivered this the 14 day of July 1906. l
