Description
, TH RLOW A. D. AoK EY, or MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
COMPOSITION OF MATTER Fo'n POLISHING.
Specification. of, Letters Patent.
\ Patented May 21,1907.
Application filed August 15, 1906. Serial No. 330, 749.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THURLOW A. D. ACK- LEY, a citizen of the United States. residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Composition of Matter for Use in Polishing Vood and Metal, of which the following .is a specification.
My composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in equal proportions, viz.: linseed oil (preferably boiled), liquid acid (preferably vinegar), kerosene (coal oil). These ingredients are proportioned by liquid measure; and are to be thoroughly mingled by agitation.
In using this composition the surface to be polished should be treated with a thin application of the composition, applied preferably With soft cloth or chamois skin. Little or no rubbing is required to attain a surface equal to the finest hand-rubbed finish.
By the use of the above solution, new furniture or woodwork may be highly finished Without the usual expenditure of physical labor;' and old'furniture may be easily and quickly refinished. Brass or metal ornaments, fixtures, etc., treated with this solution, become non-corrosive.
I find from experience that a composition containlng the proportlon above stated gives the best results, but do not Wish to confine myself to the exact proportions stated, as slight variations of the proportions may be made to produce a composition that will give similar result-s.
I am aware that compositions containing THURLOW A. n. AGKLEY. [Ll-S.
