Description

H JL.
NA PETERS. FHM'O-LITROGRAPMER. WASHINGTON. D E.
Wees-a PHILIP A. BROWN,- OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. Letters Patent No. 85,362,1dated December 29, 18,68.
Llhe Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it 'mil/y concern.-
Be it known that I, PHILIP A. BROWN, of Indianapolis, in the county of Marion, and State of Indiana,
-be hereinafter more fully described.l
Figure l represents a plan View of the lower part of a mould for forming the sections.
yFigure 2 represents one half of the top part of the same.
Figure 3, the other half of the top.
Figure 4, a sectional elevation of a machine for pressing the moulds together, with `the moulds therein.
A represents a mould-box, provided with different compartments, in which the several sections are formed, together with the parts B and B; the part A giving the configuration to the bottom and edges of the secsions andsthc top and edges ofthe caps, and the parts B and B giving the coniigurations to the tops of the sections and the bottoms of the caps.
The sectionsfor the lower tier, beginning at the eaves, as shown in red at C, Figure 5, are formed in the mould a b, the widened and depressed end b ofthe top former b, provided with the pinsl, forming the expanded elevation, and the nail-holes inthe upper end of the section O, and the recesses b3 in the lower end of the top former, form the projections ou the lower end of the section C. The mould al, provided with the narrowed elevation b4, together with the top former, which is similar to the top former b, with the-exception of the recesses b3 form the intermediate sections.
The mould a?, together with the top former a5, is for making the top or ridge sections, the bottom ends being similar to the other intermediate sections, but the upper ends diii'ering from the others, in the respect that the elevated portion is not widened.
, The projections e c, in the top former B', form the depressions c c for the projecting lugs, on the lower ends of the cap-pieces.
Ribs f f are formed inthe sides of the lower part A of the mould, to form grooves in the edges of the sections for the passage of the'iiails for holding on the caps. The nail-holes of all the parts are made in the upper ends.
In the use of the press which I have shown, several sets of moulds-may be operated on at'the same time, one being placed on. the top of another.
H represents a stationary frame, provided with'a movable frame, I, and a stationary table, K, on which the moulds may be placed under the sliding frame I, which is pressed down upon the moulds by the levers L and L.
- Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to .secure by Letters Patent- The arrangement of a series of moulds formed in the parts A, B, and B', for forming rooting-tiles and caps, such as herein shown, all constructed in the manner as and for the purpose specied. Y
PHILIP A. BROWN.
