%4 casing of any convenient form is provlded with main flow openings 11 and 12, and with a hand opening 13.wh ich may be closed by a hollow dome-shaped cap or cover 14. One of the flowopenings is adapted to receive a-separable sleeve 1.5, having at its inner end an annular enlargement'16 for contact with a face 17 upon the casing, this serving to position the sleeve. Surrounding the inner end of the sleeve-opening. is an annular 1 surface 18 furnishing a seat about which ex' tends a preferably continuous depression 19. Through the enlargement, 16, conveniently at opposite sides, are passages 20 communieating with the depression. These passages are threaded and have portions Situated in alincment with openings 21 through the casing. Extending through the openings 21 into the passages 20 are tubular members 22'2 2 threaded to engage the seat portion. The outer end of each of these tubular members isprovided with a head 23 by which it may be turned, and each member may be locked in position by a nut 24 operating upon its threaded exterior and co-acting with a packing-ring 24 Situated between it and the casing. The outer ends of the tubes have internal threads at 25 to per'mitthe connection of suitable pipes. It-will be seen that the tubularmembers not only furnish passages connecting the seat depression with the atmosphere or some-point outside the easing but also'secure the seat-sleeve in place.

As the dimensions of-these connected elements are too great with relation to the containing chamber in the casing to allow them to be put in place together, the sleeve may be first inserted and locked by the tubular members' Then the arm of the gate-is introduced between the projections 25 with the pivot openings opposite one another and the pin inserted through an alined opening 36 in the casing, the length of said pin being such asto enable this to be done conveniently; The opening 36 is then closed by a 37. whi thus allowing the valve to be madeup in a system either ri ht or left. When the valve is in use in a system in which a fluid acts against both faces the seat depression, being open to a point of less pressure than normally exists within the system, will give a differential pressure upon the gate which will be greatest at the side opposite the depression. This acts to maintain a closure of the valve, but when the pressure in the system for any reason decreases upon the outer face of the gate to an extent greater than that exerted by the combined pressuredifferential and the weight, the valve at once opens. It should be noted that as the One of the tubes 22 may be plugged .e pipe connection is made with the other,

While the valve is open a limited flow will occur through the seat-depression and the retaining connection, thus giving an indication of the change of condition. This flow may also be applied to any suitable use. To control the eflect of the differential, the weight may be, varied. by placing shot or other small objects within the receptacle or removing those which have been previously supplied. I t Having thus described my invention, I

5. A valve comprising a casing, .a separable seat portion provided with a depression, a gate portion mounted to move upon the seat portion, and means for retaining the seat portionwithin the casing, said retaining means being provided with a passage cornmunicating with the depression.
6. A valve comprising a casing having a differential seat portion, a gate portion 00- operatlng with the seat and belng pIOVKlQAl with a chamber, said chamber having an opening, and a closure for the opening;
7. A valve comprising a casing provided with an'opening, seat and gate portions separable from the casing, a pivot'connecting the seat and gate and terminating within the casing in alinement with its opening, and a removable closure-for the opening.
