WATCHCASE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 26, 1907.
Annlioation filed May 16, 1906- Serial No. 317,126-
To (Li/Z whmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUsTAvUs A. SoHLEon- TER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in WVatchoases, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in watchcases; and the object of the invention is to provide a watohcase withasuitable opening therein for the purpose of removably securing an emblem, picture, or other device therein.
The invention consists in forming the case with a single central perforation, in the wall of which is provided suitable securing means for said emblem.
In a closed or l1untingcase watch either one or both sections of the case may be provided with my invention.
The invention is more fully described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of a watchcase', showing my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the under side thereof. Fig. 3 is a central. sectional view taken on line X X of Fig. 1.
The numeral 1 designates a section of a watchcase. In the center of this case I form an opening 2. In the wall of this opening I form, either integral therewith or securely fastened in said case, a retaining-ring 3. This ring 3 is formed with a bead 4 on the exposed side of the case and extends some distance into the case. On its inner edge I form a plurality of flexible fingers 5. I
An emblem or like device may be inserted in the retaining-ring from the inside of the case, and the fingers 5 are then bent to press against it, and thus retain it in position. It is evident that this emblem may be removed and replaced at will.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A watchcase-lid having a comparatively large, central, circular opening, a retainingring secured in said opening and means for removably retaining an emblem or like device in said ring.
2. Awatchcase-lid formed with a comparatively large, central, circular opening, a retaining-ring secured in said opening, a bead formed on the exposed end of said ring, and a plurality of flexible retaining-fingers formed on the inner edge of said ring adapted to removably retain an emblem or like device.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GUSTAVUS A. SOI-ILECI-ITER.
