MASEAGWGG lPJlPLEMENTi No. 847,360. Specification. cf Letters Patent. Patented March 19, 1907.
Application filed September 25. 1905. Serial llo- 279,910.
To all whom it may concern: e cillative guide for said pitinan. A manipu Be it known that I, FREDERICK J. QSITJS, a l lating device M has an attachment N in the citizen of the United States, and a resident of form of a nut engageable with said outer end Racine, in the county of Racine and State of WVisconsin, have invented certain new and head i, as may be most desirable from time useful Improvements 1n Massaging impleto time in practice. The manipulating'device id is shown as a cup of insulatinginaterial, preferably rubber; but various forms of such devices are common in practice.
W hen. the manipulating device is attached to the pitinan H it is both reciprocative and oscillative with the same but being attached to the stem L of the spindlehead 1 it is conlined to oscillative motion of said. head imparted from said pitinan.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
1. in a massaging implement, a pitman, 'nieans in connection with one end of the pit man for actuating the same, a fixed bracket, a pitmanguide osciiiative in connection with thebracket, and a manipulating device at-- tachable to the other end of the pitrnan.
2. in a massaging implement, amotorhaving a shaft provided with an eccentric, a pitmen having one end thereof engaged bythe eccentric by which it is actuated, an oscillative guide through which the pitinan is relowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention consists in certain peculiari ties of construction and combination of parts hereinafter particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed, its object being to provide simple, economical, compact, light, durable, and efficient portable massaging implements each organized to have the manipulating device thereof either oscillative and reciproca'tive or simply oscillative, as may be preferred from time to time in practice.
Figure 1 of the drawings represents a plan view of one of my improved massaging implements, partly in horizontal section and having a casing-cover thereof removed; and Fig. 2, a side elevation of the implement,
Referring by letter to the drawings, A in dicates a handle, B a casing in connection with the handle, and C the cover of the casciprocated, and a manipulating device ating. Contained in the casing is an electric 1 tachablc to the other end of saidpitrnan.
3. in a massaging implement, a pitman, magnets F of which are shown. The motor is Wired through the handle A to a source of electric current, and the stem G of a 1notorcontrolling switch (not shown) is exposed through said handle. The construction thus far described is common in the art, and in so far as my invention is concerned any suitable driven shaft may be substitutedfor that of said motor.
The shaft is provided with an cccen trio G, that turns in one end of a pitman H, that eX- tends through a slot in the casing-cover B and is reciprocative in a head I of a pivot-shank J, that is loose in a sleeve-braclrct K, attached to the aforesaid casing. The head I of the shank J is provided with a screwthreaded, preferably crooked, stein L, and the outer end of the pitnian H is also screwguide for the pitrnan, and a maninulating with. pitinan and guide.
e. In a massaging implement an electric motor having its shaft provided with an eccentric, a pitman with which the eccentric has engagement, an oscillative guide for the pitman, and a n'ianipnlating device having inand guide.
In a massaging implement, a pitman,
man for actuating the same, afixed bracket, a pitinan guide-sleeve havinga 'shank for end thepitnian. p I
